Position Purpose:Responsible for loading steel into Shear and cutting to proper length.Hourly pay range: $16.00 - $19.00
Essential Functions:- Loads bundles onto shear.
- Pulls tag off bundle and records information onto the shear report.
- Gets new heat code for that bundle.
- Tags boxes with proper information part #, heat code, date, and initials.
- Pulls a 19' bar through shear to backstop cuts bar.
- Takes that bar and checks measurement with ruler or tape ruler to make sure for proper length of shear report.
- Makes sure the shear is making a clean cut if not get supervisor to change blades.
- Makes adjustment to backstop if needed for correct length.
- Pushes bar through again to backstop make another cut check length again.
- If length is good, continue cutting bar until last cut, take and measure that for right bar end cut on shear report.
- When done cutting for shift, hand in shear report and tags bundle.
- Clean up around shear.
- Unloading steel trucks
- Training on how to use the magnetic crane safely and responsible.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Training: High school diploma or GED
Minimum Qualifications:• Must be able to read and write English.• Must be able to read and understand work instructions
.• Must be able to read a tape measure or ruler.• Good verbal and written communication skills.• Ability to work well with others.
Physical Demands:- Ability to twist, bend and lift repetitively.
- Ability to stand continuously for 8-12 hours.
- Good physical conditions to lift up to 25lbs repetitively.
- Good eye/hand coordination and good motor skills.
Environmental Conditions:• Exposure to loud noise• Exposure to hot and humid conditions
- Double hearing protection and eye protection are required at all times in all production areas
- Steel toe boots with metatarsals are required at all times
