Production Associate

Starting $18.00/hour. Working hours are 7:00am to 3:30 pm.

Thompson Pipe Group is looking for a Laborer in Production. This person will be responsible for performing all functions necessary to produce precast concrete products efficiently and safely under supervision. Work in a team environment to accomplish the required tasks.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Lifts and carries materials and tools throughout work areas using appropriate equipment.
  • Completing final finish on a poured concrete product, using power tools and hand tools
  • Use hand tools such as the hammer, sledgehammer, wrench, pliers to accomplish daily tasks.
  • Assist with the installation of plates, rebar, and wire, insulation, lifters, revelers, and anchors.
  • Also assist with tying rebar, grinding, buffing.
  • Taping and cutting strand, cleaning Burks, bagging in blackouts, finish exposed sides
  • Patch Concrete Pipes- blending structural concrete, working with many different raw materials.
  • Finish product in an attractive manner free of cracks and imperfections
  • Removing rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces, and patching holes with fresh concrete
  • May be required to use a pressure washer and/or sandblasting equipment
  • Always maintain neat and orderly work areas
  • Cleaning Yard and picking up trash.
  • Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Bring problems to the attention of Safety Team/ Supervisor.
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures paying special attention to health and/or safety procedures.
  • Reports any problems or discrepancies to management.
  • Perform pre-operation inspections on an assigned forklift to ensure it is in safe operating condition, report at once any safety concerns or operational issues with the forklift.
  • Must work within the attendance policy guidelines.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Experience working in a construction or outside environment is required.
  • Must be able to follow instructions both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to use hand tools.
  • 1 -2 years-Manufacturing Experience
  • 1-2 Years- Manufacturing Precast Concrete (Preferred)
  • Concrete Finishing: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Pouring and finishing concrete in forms
  • Teamwork environment
  • Must have a safety-first attitude

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Able to work in dust and outside environmental conditions (i.e., rain, wind)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Standing, walking, and stooping throughout the shift.
  • Ability to keep up with manufacturing requirements.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
  • Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for prolonged periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
  • Use to wearing earplugs and other PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) – such as a hard hat, steel-toed boots, gloves, and safety glasses as required.

Work Environment:

The work environment is not climate controlled and subject to outdoor weather conditions. Team members are exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting.

Work Hours
  • Monday-Friday (Mandatory OT Saturdays based on business needs)
  • (Holidays are off)
  • 10-to-12-hour shifts

Must pass Pre-employment Physical, Respiratory, alcohol/drug testing.
