THE OPPORTUNITY

Western Forest Products is looking to hire a Production Coordinator at our Columbia Vista Division in Vancouver, WA.

What You'll Do: Working closely with the Production team, the Production Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that our products are delivered to ourcustomers on schedule, in a cost-efficient manner and that all documentation is complete. You are responsible for forecasting, scheduling, and coordination of cut plans, order fulfilment and shipping, including oversight of the BS Trucking fleet as well as the shipping and documentation team.

Who You Are: Our ideal candidate has experience working in lumber manufacturing in either a supervisory or shipping coordinator capacity. We are looking for a highly organized leader with the drive and ability to ensure smooth logistical operations through excellent communication skills and proficiency in MS Office and other computer programs. You are eager to learn and want to grow with an industry leader in the ever-evolving, sustainable forestry sector.

Work Environment: This role is to be performed in person at our Columbia Vista Division.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety and Environmental Performance

* Demonstrates safety leadership by actively participating in the operation's safety program; following all identified rules and regulations and by setting a good example to others;

* Responsible for ensuring that the shippers and truck drivers are following all on site safety procedures and policies;

* Conduct truck audits to ensure all safety procedures are being followed;

* Ensure all safety protocols regarding yard storage are followed;

* Identify hazards and risks.

Financial Performance

* Ensure monthly shipping forecasts are on target;

* Optimize volume on trucks to ensure efficiency;

* Look for cost effective options when moving lumber;

* Work with logistics to ensure cost efficiency;

* Maintain shipping statistics for month end accounting purposes.

Leadership

* Lead the shipping and documentation team members;

* Lead the BS Trucking fleet including an accounting clerk responsible for invoicing;

* Responsible for inventory management.

Operations

* Forecast, schedule and coordinate sawmill cuts, planer runs, and shipping using lumber inventory management system and other tools as required;

* Ensure timelines and deadlines are met for order fulfilment;

* Produce detailed cut plans and coordinate with operations including sawmill, kilns, planer mill, custom/secondary processing, and shipping;

* Coordinate operations with all divisional staff as well as other WFP Production Coordinators, Lumber Sales and Trucking Logistics personnel;

* Conduct and reconcile inventory counts.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education And Experience

* Post-secondary degree in Business, Accounting, Wood Processing or Forestry related field is an asset;

* 3-5 years' experience in quality control, sawmill or planer supervision, or shipping coordination strongly preferred; and,

* Experience in lumber manufacturing is strongly preferred.

Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies

* Strong ability to communicate verbally and written;

* Understanding of lumber grades and lumber products an asset;

* Experience with scheduling and forecasting;

* Knowledge of mobile equipment;

* Strong computer proficiency including MS Office;

* Experience with lumber inventory management systems an asset;

* Grading and Tally Tickets are assets.
