Job DescriptionWork ArrangementThis role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Design Center in Warren, MI on a full-time basis.The RoleGeneral Motors Creative Design organization is transforming the future of transportation and mobility solutions. We are seeking a pivotal role in our Sculpting organization. We are looking for a digital sculptor for our Surface Product Engineering group to execute digital models by developing aesthetic surfaces which meet time and quality requirements as advised by Sculpting Leadership. Support Sculpting leadership with mentoring others in efficient methods for developing models, integrating new technologies, and crafting workflows.What You'll Do:Design component/subsystem requirements, utilizing GM CAD and Data Management System for Design StudiosUtilize Criteria and Typical Sections for crafting digital class A surface adhering to GVDP requirements with quality, on timeDemonstrate application of design operations and processesApplies manufacturability, Design for assembly, and integration knowledge to parts and subsystem designs.Participates in Design Reviews, both scheduled and informal workstation reviews, as requiredSupports CAE, Studios and suppliers with studies to improve designsStays ahead of current product developments and trends in area of responsibilityProactively communicates efficiently with all partnersActively identifies new areas for learning and takes advantage of learning opportunitiesYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):You must submit a portfolio in order to be considered for this position. Please see instructions below.Associates degree in a technical field or equivalent experience in class A surfacingSkill set in math release process, specifications, and data managementKnowledgeable of product design concepts and manufacturing processes (i.e. injection molding, stamping, extrusion, machining, etc.)Proficient understanding of Specification and Release terms and systems in Team Center (TCAE)What Can Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)Preferred Bachelors degree in a technical fieldHigh level of creative/technical proficiencyExpertise in the use of sculpting software, i.e. Alias, NXHigh level of sketch interpretation/ability to translate design input into 3D modelsSeeks opportunities for innovation by executing on the latest ideas and implementing continuous improvement initiativesPORTFOLIO SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONSTo be considered for this position, you will need to submit a portfolio in addition to your resume and profile.
