Duties and Responsibilities:
The Production Drummer/Packager is responsible for ensuring that manufactured items are ready for shipment by placing them into containers, sealing and labeling the items, and preparing the item for transport. The incumbent will also clean packaging materials, load items into containers, and weigh and label the items appropriately. The Production Drummer/Packager will also perform final checks for defective items, ensure all working items make it to the loading area or inventory, and keep detailed records of materials and shipments.
Key duties include but not limited to the following:
- Ensure that all items are in proper working order; discard defective items/products according to company procedures.
- Securely seal containers or materials, using glues, fasteners, nails, and/or hand tools.
- Load materials and products into package processing equipment.
- Assemble, line, and pad cartons, crates, and containers, using hand tools.
- Mark and label containers, container tags, or products, using marking tools.
- Measure, weigh, and count products and materials.
- Examine and inspect containers, materials, and products to ensure that packing specifications are met.
- Record product, packaging, and order information on specified forms and records.
- Clean containers, materials, supplies, or work areas, using cleaning solutions and hand tools.
- Place or pour products or materials into containers, using hand tools and equipment, or fill containers from spouts or chutes.
- Maintain a clean work area.
- Ensure products make it safely to their destinations.
Requirements: Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:
- High School Diploma/ GED.
- Experience in manufacturing or related field is preferred.
Must pass Department of Homeland Security background check and pre-placement physical (including respirator) and pre-employment drug-screen.
Working Conditions:
- Requires climbing, standing, bending and lifting heavy objects in awkward and confined spaces using proper lifting and rigging techniques.
- Speaking & Hearing: Interact with all plant groups as well as the plants environmental consultants.
- Seeing: Must be able to read and follow written instructions.
- Subject to exposure of fumes, dust, and high levels of vibration.
- Subject to exposure of high noise levels required ear protection.
- Subject to working near moving parts of heavy machinery and high voltage equipment where the use of appropriate protective/safety equipment is required.
- Subject to working at heights and in adverse weather conditions.
- Work includes indoor and outdoor environment.
- May be subject to after duty callouts.
