We strive for excellence by continuing to invest in our facilities, our product and our people.Haakon Industries in headquartered in Richmond, BC Canada and currently has 3 manufacturing facilities; one in Kingston, ON, Canada and one in Cheney, WA, USA and our newest facility in Asheville, NC, USA.We are looking for production engineers to be a part of the team to help grow our rapidly expanding manufacturing facility in Asheville, NC. This is a unique opportunity for the right candidate, as it is a brand new facility and is a blank canvas for a high performing and independent engineer.The ideal candidate possesses strong mechanical and manufacturing aptitude and problem solving skills, along with well-developed interpersonal skills, both written and verbal. Working as a Production Engineer it is important that you are capable of effectively managing changing priorities, are self-motivated and thrive in an extremely fast paced environment. You must understand lean manufacturing principals, have a high level of mechanical aptitude, be a strong proponent of continuous change and enjoy spending time on the production floor. This is a very hands on engineering position.Qualifications;

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university (Mechanical or Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering preferred, but other concentrations will be considered for the right candidate)
  • Three to ten years of manufacturing experience required
Some of the responsibilities and key characteristics include but are not limited to:
  • Be responsible for implementing and maintaining high safety standards
  • Maintain processes and product to established Quality Control standards
  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems
  • Ability to propose and implement new processes and process improvements with minimal guidance
  • Project management
  • Provide input and implementation of standard operating procedures
  • Implement lean principles such as takt times, visual management, kaizen, and kanban
  • Be a positive change agent for production processes
  • Liaison between design engineering and production
  • Serving as a technical resource to production staff, customers and sales
