At Davidson Plyforms, a division of Leggett & Platt, we owe our success to the efficiency of organizational processes. To help maintain and grow this standard, we're seeking to add to our operations management team to oversee daily production activities. The ideal candidate will have a sharp business mind and proven success in managing multiple areas for maximum productivity. This position will be responsible for leading wood and plastic products production teams to work safely to meet or exceed established operational objectives. We are looking for a passionate leader to help lead various aspects of Davidson Plyforms, North America's premier compression molded, curved plywood, and recycled plastics manufacturer. This position will report to the Branch Manager.
Responsibilities:
* Strong Safety Mindset in all areas of responsibility.
* From direction of Branch manager at start-up meetings: Plan, direct, and execute plant operations within area of responsibility.
* Develop, implement, and enforce operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating inefficiencies and improve product quality, reduce waste, and increase revenue.
* Provide leadership, management, and motivation to attain high levels of employee achievement and retention.
* Accomplish manufacturing goals by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
* Develop and recommend improvements of facilities, equipment, or procedures to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.
* Lead with the 4Es (Energy, Energize, Edge & Execution).
* Utilize 8D, PPCA, 5-Why, Fishbone, etc. to determine and eliminate root causes.
* Working with team members to onboard and retain new employees.
* Ensure manufacturing activities adhere to the branch's quality procedures (ISO).
* Partner with Branch Manager and Human Resources for employee engagement.
Requirements
* At least 5 or more years with supervisory experience and a minimum of 3 years of management experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
* At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing facility.
* An Associate's degree or similar years of experience.
* Deep knowledge of production management.
* Understanding of quality standards and health & safety regulations.
* Knowledge of performing personnel evaluations
* Understanding of financial budgeting concepts.
* Experience in reporting on key production metrics
* Outstanding communication skills.
* Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
* Attention to detail.
* Strong decision-making skills and a results-driven approach.
* Working knowledge and experience with MS Word, Excel, and the ability to learn various PC-based production and operations applications
