Explore Gentex today!POSITION OVERVIEWThe purpose of the Production Group Leader I position is to develop work teams dedicated to producing high-quality products, meeting production requirements, and practicing continuous improvement. This role is responsible for managing the business of the assigned manufacturing area with regards to people, safety, quality, delivery and cost. WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Promote physical, emotional, and professional safety of all team members. Provide resources and remove barriers allowing teams to be effective.
  • Lead and manage a team of direct reports including recordkeeping, time-tracking, training/development and managing performance.
  • Communicate the company's policies and objectives and interface between the employees and the company.
  • Emphasize, demonstrate and coach commitment to continuous improvement through lean manufacturing practices utilizing 5S, 8 Forms of Waste, etc.
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge of current and new equipment and/or processes in order to support their development and optimization.
  • Lead and/or participate in cross-functional teams regarding the concentration and execution of corrective actions by identifying the root cause (5 Why's, 8D's).
  • Ownership and communication of departmental key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Create a positive working environment, which eliminates fear and intimidation and fosters team growth and professionalism.
  • Interface with other departments on the production groups' behalf to ensure that company quality standards and customer requirements are met.
  • Plan production to meet customer demands while maintaining a high level of product quality required by the customer.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturing readiness of new products and processes.
  • Handle disciplinary actions of team members according to company policy and with the assistance of Human Resources.
  • Develop working knowledge of all workstations within the manufacturing area.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Analytical thinking - Tackling a problem by using a logical, systematic, and sequential approach.
  • Diagnostic Information gathering - Identifying the information needed to clarify a situation, seek that information from appropriate sources, and use skillful questioning to draw out the information.
  • Complying with all Company policies and procedures, safety regulations, company safety policies and safely perform all duties, including but not limited to, promoting a safe workplace.
  • Maintaining high level of honesty, integrity and confidentiality with respect to company matters.
WHAT TO BRING
  • 2 - 4-year degree in a related field and/or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Proven leadership experience.
WHAT WILL HELP
  • Management experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
