Position SummaryReporting to the Operations Manager, the Production Lead is a key contributor to Zinpro's success by supporting plant leadership with the day-to-day management of the production floor, overseeing a group of operators, and ensuring an efficient operation in achieving daily and weekly business targets. This role takes an active role in executing the daily activities required to meet all expectations of safety, environmental, quality, and production for the manufacturing plant. Work will center around providing training, coordinating workloads, and providing support to ensure that the team delivers; monitoring any issues, and ensuring production targets, Key Performance Indicators (KPI's), and quality standards are met to meet the requirements of the customer. Success in this position requires the ability to work with complex machinery and perform physically demanding work while ensuring the safety of self and others. This role is based in a Zinpro manufacturing plant. Essential Functions
- Oversees the day-to-day tasks Plant Operators execute to meet the expected plan communicated from management. As required, fills in and executes tasks needed to meet daily plans. Responsible for reactor operation, drying, blending, packaging, shipping, and receiving. Floats to, or ensures coverage of critical areas
- Delivers or ensures proper training of Operators for products and processes within the local team
- Monitors time and attendance and ensures compliance with company procedures - Reports issues and needs to Supervisor or Manager
- Executes incident, accident and non-conformity investigations and associated reporting and action closure
- Ensures the completion of tasks, good performance, and records on appropriate systems. Provides product expertise within team, and responds to Operator queries
- Enforces and promotes high standards through personal example and rolls out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviors expected of them
- Enforces and communicates Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) from the strategic annual plan so that each employee is aware of expectations and deliverables. Ensures daily shift reports are completed and posted
- Initiates Heads-up when gaps suggest it, ensures work orders, JSA's, and Near misses are being submitted by the teams
- Collaborates effectively with support functions to fully define the processes/procedures/controls relevant to team activities
- Supports the Management team by sharing ideas to improve operation; recommends, supports, and helps implement continuous improvement activities and process and procedure improvements to optimize results and improve quality of delivery, in line with quality standards requirements and delivery in line with Company and Customer requirements
- Works with Supervisor or Manager on the production scheduling process to determine schedules for shift production and raw material needs
- Provides input on Employee reviews as needed to Supervisor
- Fills in for Supervisor as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned
QualificationsMinimum Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a production environment or warehouse operation
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform basic troubleshooting
- Basic computer skills (PC) and basic working knowledge of MS Word and Excel
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Preferred:
- Post-secondary education
- Previous lead or supervisory experience; experience in a related production environment or industry such as chemical, feed, paper, ethanol, or dairy manufacturing
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and perform maintenance-related tasks
- Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) or inventory management systems such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
- Experience supporting ISO 9000 Quality Systems, GMP's, or Lean Manufacturing methods

Schedule RequirementsThis Production Leader is expected to work third shift hours. Third shift is a 40-hour work week operating overnight from 11:00pm - 7:00am Sunday night to Friday Morning. This position is expected to work within core shift hours and requires participation in after-hours meetings with plant personnel on other shifts. Travel RequirementsThis position will work primarily at their home manufacturing plant facility and may engage in occasional company-sponsored travel.
