Job Description:

General Purpose of Job: Oversee maintenance mechanics and production equipment to insure proper running and maintenance. Must be Hands On.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with production team on planning, scheduling, work completion and maintenance work performance.
  • Emergency coordination of resources & contractors. Able to resource necessary parts and equipment for repairs and projects.
  • Responsible for immediately identifying non-conforming product or equipment at any step of the operation.
  • Oversee the ordering of maintenance parts and supplies for production equipment and plant as needed. Working closely with Parts Clerk.
  • Coordinate maintenance staff to ensure proper personnel to cover production lines as needed for breakdowns and change over.
  • Screen potential maintenance candidates for employment.
  • General plant facility maintenance related items.
  • Reliable attendance.
  • Follows leadership direction as well as communicating well with others.
  • Work with plant manager and production supervisors in the workflow process.
  • Frequent climbing of stairs is required along with lifting (At least 50 Lbs) and moving of various materials required.
  • Responsible for Food Safety and HACCP as assigned.
  • Follows all program guidelines for Organic, Halal and Kosher certifications.
  • Ability to be available for after-hour emergency situations (fire, water, etc.).

Education/ Experience:

  • College Degree helpful.
  • Five years' experience in maintenance, engineering or production management.
  • Knowledge of proactive maintenance model (i.e. planning, scheduling, defect elimination, etc.).
  • Experience with liquid food packaging equipment and processes helpful. High-speed packaging or plastics industry helpful.
  • PLC Knowledge helpful.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement detailed solutions to complex technical problems involving multiple technologies.
  • Basic computer skills, working understanding of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to learn computerized maintenance management system.
  • Strong communication, organization and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills.
  • Experience with Six Sigma, Lean, 5Y or Continuous Improvement helpful.
  • Knowledge of shop math, ability to interpret drawings and use the tools required.
  • Knowledge of mechanical aptitude and mechanical and electrical and fabricated repairs.
  • This position is covered by the Assistant Maintenance Manager (or lead mechanic).
