The Company:
IGE Performance Chemicals (IGE) is the chemical manufacturing and processing subsidiary company of Island Group Enterprises located in Mountain Top, Pennsylvania. IGE has a chemical product R&D development team, which develops manufacturing processes ina lab for different specialty chemical products, starting with a pilot-scale manufacturing process and finishing with a medium-large scale production setup. Additionally, IGE has a production team consisting of 15 people, which performs synthesis and physical processing (grinding, blending, sieving, etc.) of specialty chemicals.
The Position:
The Production Manager will work full-time in IGEs manufacturing facility in Mountain Top, Pennsylvania managing all production shifts. The Production Manager will oversee all production operations, such as order processing, safety and environmental protocols, and ensure that all DEP, OSHA, EPA, internal, and customer standards are met. Additionally, the Production Manager will coordinate, manage, and work in a hands-on capacity with plant operators to ensure timely, thorough, and safe repairs and work. Moreover, the Production Superintendent will work directly and be in constant communication with the General Manager and Production Scheduler.
Responsibilities:
- Manage production operations and personnel for the chemical plant.
- Develop, maintain, and implement accident prevention and safety procedures and oversee the safety committee.
- Monitor production processes and ensure that all standards are met.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with equipment and machinery and ensure Preventative Maintenance (PM) is scheduled.
- Coordinate with suppliers to acquire and maintain needed raw materials.
- Monitor and measure costs such as Overhead and Capital Expenditures.
- Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, and annual production reports
- Provide instruction, training, and guidance to Plant Operators.
- Ensure that records are properly maintained and filed.
- Ensure safety, environmental and GMP standards are being met.
- Ensure that Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are developed and that production employees have been trained to meet plant operations objectives.
- Work with the ISO coordinator to update procedures, documentation, and ensure compliance.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of Managerial or Supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting and a proven track record of Project Management is required.
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or business-related field is required.
- Experience in a GMP environment is required; Experience in Chemical manufacturing preferred.
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to effectively communicate across teams and with external customers.
- Must be well-organized, time efficient, a team player and an effective communicator.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
