JOB PURPOSE: The Production Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating all activities associated with the mine production; Ensures all KPI's including EH&S, quality, compliance to regulations, and production are achieved; Manages local staff and contractors.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proven managerial experience.
Knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources).
Competent understanding of roof and floor strata and roof support materials.
Working knowledge of Longwall, Continuous Miner, Belts and Outby.
Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise.
Knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, inventory, and logistics processes.
Ability to create accountability and to lead by example.
Ability to communicate effectively including listening, delegation and demonstrated computer literacy.
Strong team building, decision-making, and people management skills.
Responsibilities Include:
* Be a champion of the highest standards of safety and environmental behavior and performance.
* Coordinate workplace inspections to identify conditions or practices that have the potential for loss. Immediately correct substandard conditions and practices to minimize employee accidents, property, and environmental damage.
* Manage and control mining and production activity to achieve economic targets as planned.
* Actively manage staff and contractor relationships to optimize performance, reliability, and cost.
* Manage other key internal and external relationships as required, including the Mining Authorities.
* Ensure that an appropriate structure is in place to deliver optimal performance at the mine.
* Manage/facilitate operations and mine-related projects as appropriate.
* Ensure adherence to policies, standards, and procedures in all areas of operations.
* Deliver and reach budgeted tons each month in accordance with the annual plan. Recommend relevant benchmarks and identify the best practice leading to these and the improvement activities required to achieve them.

Preferred Education & Experience:
* A Bachelor's Degree in Mine Engineering or related discipline is a plus or an equivalent combination of a GED and corresponding years of experience in mining along with additional supervisory training.
* Minimum of 10 years progressive experience with at least 5 of those years in supervision.
* Working experience on a Longwall, Continuous Miner, Belts and Outby, and familiarity with current mining equipment and standards and laws.
POSITION WILL REPORT TO: The Production Manager will report directly to the General Manager.
