We are currently working with a family-owned manufacturing company looking for a Production Manager to manage their Madison, WI plant location.What's the role?The Production Manager is responsible for managing all manufacturing operations and production for the company at their single location in Madison. The role will report to the company's General Manager. The right candidate is willing to be hands-on to support the production team while also providing a strategic vision for operational success and leadership to develop the production team. The main objectives of the role include:Passionately takes ownership in leading production, maintenance, and warehouse to the highest standards of efficiency, quality, safety, and teamwork culture.Manages all manufacturing activities at the operating level to achieve effective and efficient use of facilities and personnel as well as conformance to schedules and budgets using process, quality, and production improvement methodologies. Directs the development, planning, implementation, and maintenance of manufacturing methods for new or existing products and technologies; this includes quality, safety, and efficiency programs and improvements for all manufactured operations and compliance with OSHA, state, and federal regulations.Develops and maintains manufacturing budgets and ensures that the operations and manufacturing processes are cost-effective to remain profitable.Drives production planning and scheduling efforts and ensures that production department materials, labor, and equipment are used efficiently.Develops and analyzes plant systems of measurement including OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) to guide plant and team performance.Manages plant staffing to complement production schedule planning with time off requests, overtime, and needed staffing model changes.Develops and has ownership of all aspects of the safety culture for the plant through constant development of safe behaviors, procedures, and systems within the team and plant that exceed OSHA and industry standards.Is a champion for good housekeeping as a guiding principle for excellent safety and productivity results.Collaborates with internal partners to hire top talent, develop training and cross-training programs, deliver performance evaluations, make recommendations for internal personnel changes, and facilitate coaching conversations.Communicates continuously with the production team and leadership including leading production meetings and representing production at inter-department meetings.Work alongside the production team to ensure products are produced safely, within quality specifications, and on time.Communicate and meet with customers, vendors, contractors, and other partners.What experience and skills do I need to be successful?There are a few key qualifications for this role:Minimum of 10 years in manufacturing experience, woods and plastics preferredMinimum of 5 years operational management roleA bachelor's degree in manufacturing, engineering, or business administrationIntermediate computer skills with Microsoft Office softwareAdvanced interpersonal and supervisory skills to lead the production teamExperience in small business settings a plusGreat Perks and Benefits:This position pays a competitive base salary with a full benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, PTO, 401k with employer match, and voluntary supplemental insurance.What will my schedule look like?This salaried role generally works onsite during office hours Monday-Friday 8a-5p.What types of products are being designed and manufactured?For over 40 years, the company has been manufacturing retail store fixtures and point-of-purchase displays.
