Position Summary We are seeking an experienced first shift Production Manager to work out of our Milwaukee Service Center.The Production Manager will be responsible for the overall leadership of the workforce in the Generator Service Department: managing staff, coordinating production schedules, and managing all activities of the designated department(s).The manager will be accountable to support safety, quality, schedule attainment, delivery, budget, and employee staffing and development. Essential Duties
  • Develop and maintain an effective organizational structure for department personnel.
  • Manage the compliance to all established safety, environmental, and quality procedures and processes.
  • Administer company rules, policies, and ethics concerning employment.
  • Establish and maintain shop work center housekeeping and 5S projects.
  • Participate in annual strategic planning for the business and develop initiatives for respective department.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources for department labor and training needs to meet planned business expectations.
  • Monitor production efficiency & productivity metrics and adjust resources as needed.
  • Evaluate and continue to improve shop capacity in cooperation with Production Control & Scheduling.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate department labor to fulfill sales orders, meet quality requirements, and deliver products according to project schedules.
  • Participate in the Operations budgeting process, provide justification for facility and capital equipment, and adhere to department budget.
  • Supervise, coordinate, train, coach, develop, and review the work of assigned staff including annual appraisals.
  • Establish and enforce expectations of workforce related to work assignments.
  • Coordinate tooling and supplies for the department.
  • Participate in developing and executing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide input in facility layout development planning which includes identification and procurement of strategic facilities or equipment.
  • Promote positive relations across the plant to build a strong company culture
Education and Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Operations preferred
  • 2-5 years in Manufacturing or Services environment
  • Previous shop operations experience with preference in power-generation equipment industry
  • Experience with manufacturing systems, time and data collection systems, planning and scheduling software preferred.
  • Above average verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Be able to work independently with minimal supervision or guidance.

The employee is occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places, and risk of shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat, extreme cold and wet, humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.
