Position Snapshot: The Production Manager directs and supervises all plant production employees, and is responsible for overseeing maintenance, safety, quality, continuous improvement, and other production-related activities in the two plants at this location. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Work with the Plant Manager to administer the company's safety program, to include training employees, auditing facilities, and helping to create and implement safety procedures.
  • Direct and supervise plant operations for production, maintenance, and quality.
  • Provide guidance, leadership, and development for the plant superintendent and leadmen.
  • Set standards and goals for efficient production on a daily basis. Track, monitor, and report on progress and results.
  • Implement and effect change when production standards and goals are not met.
  • Communicate and work with maintenance staff to reduce breakdowns and ensure preventative maintenance is completed consistently.
  • Control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight, and repair expenses.
  • Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment. Make recommendations to the Plant Manager to replace or make adjustments to plant facilities and equipment when necessary.
  • Incorporate shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel for continuous improvement.
  • Provide leadership and training to achieve company goals and objectives, with safety as one of the top goals.
  • Maintain a positive atmosphere of growth and learning for the employees entrusted to you.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid planning and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of industrial equipment and operations.
  • Experience with industrial manufacturing methods, process improvement programs, and procedures required.
  • Knowledge of concrete batching techniques and processes strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of computers and software applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality and safety.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Two (2) or more years of supervisory experience in a precast concrete manufacturing environment.
  • Industry-related and DOT certifications (ACI, NPCA, VDOT) or ability to obtain certifications within specified timeframe.
Requirements:
  • Must reside in the continental U.S. within the assigned region. No relocation assistance is provided.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer.
Typical Schedule: Work is generally performed Monday-Friday, 40+ hours per week depending on workload and production demands. Typical Physical Demands: Physical agility, which may require any or all of the following: standing, sitting, walking, climbing, reaching, bending/stooping, lifting (50lbs. max), pushing/pulling (50lbs. max). Working Conditions: Work is performed in a production environment, with ambient weather/air conditions, loud noise, dangerous equipment, and variable lighting. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in all production areas. Dirty and dusty conditions at times which may require respirator protection. Non-permit confined space work and working with chemicals. Plant manager maintains complete list of SDS's on site at all times. Compensation: Based on skills, knowledge, and experience.
