Who we are looking for: We are currently looking for a Production Manager to be based out of Tampa, FL.Reporting to the Plant Manager this person will be responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling production in the facility to ensure that goods are produced efficiently, on time, within budget, and to standard. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a PVC Extrusion manufacturing plant operation. Must be Bilingual (English/Spanish). What you'll do:
  • Responsible for developing and managing a team to be responsible for Extrusion and other production departments
  • Analyze and report department performance on production volume, cost and quality
  • Analyze and report (written and oral) to the Plant Manager the status of high priority jobs running in Production or issues deemed or issues deemed to be priority by Senior Management
  • Plan and maintain resources for the department (people, equipment, etc.) to ensure on-time attainment of production and service requirements at the best cost and highest quality
  • Proactively identify and implement process and quality improvements and initiate corrective and/or preventive actions when out of compliance
  • Schedule and manage the daily production team; set goals, monitor key performance indicators, hire staff, develop and document training plans to ensure employees are trained and in compliance with all procedures; coach and counsel to improve results, conduct ongoing performance appraisals
  • Develop, implement, and manage departmental standard work
  • Ensure implementation and adherence to health and safety procedures
  • Liaison with employees and management teams to identify ways to continually foster and promote a positive work environment by direct involvement with all levels of employees
What you'll bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering/operations management preferred.
  • 5 to 10 years of work experience in a PVC Extrusion manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience and knowledge in Lean manufacturing background and the passion to grow your lean experience. Proven track record of Lean accomplishments as well as cost out and process improvements.
  • Experience and background in accounting, human resources, inventory control, and strategic planning are preferred but not required.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft applications, and ability to analyze information and create reports.
  • Teamwork and project management skills, self-driven and accountable
Within 3 months, you'll:
  • Understand Company culture and Atkore Business System (ABS)
  • Complete your Atkore immersion program.
  • Become familiar with each product line that is manufactured at the Tampa location.
  • Establish strong working relationships with all production employees, including Supervisors and Production Specialist.
Within 6 months, you'll:
  • Partner with Safety, Quality, and HR to provide corrective measures and find opportunities in areas for continuous improvement.
  • Identify ways to strengthen the team's commitment to Atkore's core values of Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect, and Excellence.
  • Take full ownership of Lean Daily Management, including Daily Gemba Walks, KPI, and KAI boards.
  • Determine and manage human and material resources in order to meet production targets
Within 12 months, you'll:
  • Be managing an efficient team that delivers Atkore's strategy.
  • Have meaningful performance conversations with your direct reports.
  • Drive Lean Excellence strategy for your Production Department. Develop strategies and implement projects to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
