The production manager will ensure that the various functions of the operation interact cohesively to meet the overall goals of the plant. The individual will also provide clear direction and leadership to the staff through goal setting and timely feedback. Must maintain a clear focus on the tactical & strategic plans of the facility and ensure that they are closely aligned with company goals and objectives. The production manager interfaces with all cross-functional groups and acts as a liaison between the manufacturing plant and other disciplines. Direct Reports can include: shift supervisors and operation support engineer. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide leadership to the production staff to ensure the various internal and external functions are operating efficiently and cohesively.Ensure that the plant meets or exceeds key production goals.Optimizes labor, production line, and materials utilization.Ensures that employees conduct their duties in accordance with plant safety policies, procedures, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).Timely and effective communication with management on key issues.Effectively manage relationships with cross functional support groups.Proactive and regular review of all key operating indices including appropriate reactions to variations.Additional Qualifications/ResponsibilitiesEDUCATION: Preferred: Bachelor's degree (Technical or Business discipline)EXPERIENCE:Required: 3-5 years of plant leadership experience in a manufacturing facility.Preferred: 5-7 years' experience managing a diverse staff in a medium to large technical plastic thermoforming and extrusion process operationSKILLS:Required: Excellent communication & interpersonal skills; strong technical background; proven leadership skills with experience supervising managers; strong data analysis skills; budgeting preparation and management skills; strong writing, computer and presentation skills; strong ownership of Safety; Basic knowledge of equipmentPreferred: Lean Manufacturing Certified; Black Belt Certified; Basic financial understanding to be able to translate plant performance to P/L output; knowledge of HDPE and PP processing; knowledge of dry offset Printing TechnologiesSPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (if applicable):The physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the Plant Manager job.
