* The primary responsibility of the production operator is to ensure that the company's coalbed methane wells are operating properly. They must drive to each well and check that the mechanical components of the well are working, and gas/water pipelines are not blocked or leaking. Also called pumpers, this employee works in the field to monitor equipment and to report the amount the gas extracted from the wells. They are responsible for the charts that measure the amount of natural gas. This can include paper or automated readouts. They must keep the charting equipment working and study readouts to see if they indicate production issues. They must be able to perform a variety of other tasks including starting gas/electric motors, greasing pumping units, changing belts, and stuffing box rubber replacement. They must follow environmental rules and report spills and prevent shutdowns from equipment failure. Must be able to follow specific instructions while maintaining acceptable established standards of work performance and conduct, show necessary and consistent energy, as well as acceptable mental and physical dexterity, for the satisfactory completion of the essential duties as defined.
