Job Title: Production Operator Property of: CJ Bio America 1946 Harvest Ave. Fort Dodge, Iowa 50501 Job #: PROD_Operator REV: 08/28/2019 Department: ProductionReports to: Department Manager Career Path: T Function: Production • Full-Time • Temp • Part-Time • Exempt • Non-Exempt Job Summary The Production Operator's role is to maintain production standards pursuant to SOP and cGMP. This position works rotating 12 hour shifts, which includes days, nights, weekends, holidays and overtime. Summary of Essential Job Functions
  • Monitor and operate assigned process using HMI control software in order to ensure operation is within normal parameter;
  • Monitor density, tank levels, equipment and process conditions (temperature, vacuum pressure, pump current);
  • Collect and test samples, such as specific gravity, concentration, pH, optical density, etc... to ensure level of quality;
  • Monitor test results and make appropriate production adjustments
  • Maintain a clean work area;
  • Accurately and legibly record sample and process data
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Ability to participate in a high performance team-based environment that is fast-learning and adaptive;
  • Ability to communicate effectively and participate in a continuous improvement culture, including utilizing problem solving skills;
  • Willing to cross-train into other areas; ensure conformance to standard work by following the process; communicate any issues to the appropriate resources in a timely manner;
  • Work in a safe manner;
  • Computer skills, i.e. Microsoft Excel, Word and the ability to learn new software applications
  • Critical thinking, multi-tasking and troubleshooting skills;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Analytical ability;
  • Knowledge of general chemistry or science is preferred
Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • This position works rotating 12 hour shifts, which includes days, nights, weekends, holidays and overtime.
  • This position works in a manufacturing environment
  • Exposure to high noise levels, vibrations, varying atmospheric conditions and temperatures, Hazardous Chemicals, High Pressure Steam;
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position up to 60% of shift;
  • Ability to walk about inside the building to access sample collection areas;
  • Ability to ascend/descend an extensive amount of stairs frequently;
  • Ability to position self to collect samples from collecting locations several times throughout shift;
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds;
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Lab experience preferred
  • Manufacturing experience preferred
