Summary: The Coater Technician will control the paint application on-to the substrate. Will partner with Planning and use the information provided to adhere to established paint applications. Take preventative measures to ensure the product is in compliance with Company specifications. Essential Job Functions:
- Maintains housekeeping requirements of the application area include prime coat area
- Installs and removes coating rolls, mixers, pumps and hoses at all coating stations
- Sets, monitors, and adjusts computer control screens at the point of application
- Monitors roll speed and amperage for all rolls at the coater
- Operates a forklift and power jack
- Checks coating wet film and makes required adjustments
- Filters paint and checks for dirt particles, bubbles and flow
- Records information on paint color supplier, batch number and quantities consumed
- Handles hazardous materials including storage, labeling and transportation.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Must have fluency in English, read, write and speak.
- Must be able to read, write and interpret documents such as training manuals, write routine reports and facilitate training sessions.
- Able to perform mathematics, including dividing units of measure and computing rate, ratio, percentage and interpreting graphs.
Physical Demands To perform this job successfully, a payoff operator is regularly required to communicate with other employees. The employee must be able to regularly lift and move up to 50lbs. Specific vision abilities include close/distance, color vision, peripheral vision and Required Training
- Safety Orientation: within 3 days of hire
- Forklift certification: within 60 days of hire
- Spill Containment: within 60 days of hire
- Hazardous Waste: within 6 months of hire
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The atmosphere is that of a manufacturing plant. The position will primarily work where moving machinery produces noise. Employees must wear Personal Protective Equipment that is issued for that location. Temperature can range from extreme cold to extreme heat. Physical demands may include standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, climbing, pushing/pulling, forward bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, squatting, crawling, postural balancing, manipulating, trunk rotation, handling, gripping, and talking (hearing).
