OVERVIEWThese positions are located at the Vallourec Star pipe mill operations. Candidates must be able to perform the essential duties of a floor mechanic in and around designated areas of the pipe mill operations.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSCommitment to safety and qualityArea 5S tasksFlexible to work any shift assignedAutonomous maintenance tasks - i.e. grease, oil, check fluid levels, etc.Operate overhead cranes, jib cranes and motorized vehiclesParticipate in continuous improvement activitiesPerform minor troubleshooting of electrical/mechanical problemsHave knowledge of the locations of all shutdown and lockout switches in assigned areaRemove scrap from areaOperate all floor stations in assigned areaMake adjustments to equipment as directed by operators or supervisorsHave knowledge of the functionality of all equipment in the pipe millHave knowledge of all quality defects and their originInspect pipe and report immediately any non-qualityPerform the essential duties of floor operationsMinimize operational delays by proactively tending to breakdowns, make rounds in all work areas and identify potential hazards or malfunctioning equipmentThoroughly complete shift report and submit to Team Leader by end of each shiftExecute all tooling and roll changesMake effective repairs to equipment as necessary within the scope of your expertiseOperate and understand QA tools and parameters of measurements (micrometers, etc)Other duties may be assignedBASIC QUALIFICATIONSMust have general mechanical skills: can effectively use torch and tools to accomplish tasksMust learn all of the area specific floor mechanic responsibilitiesLanguage skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsMathematical skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimalsReasoning ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram formAbility to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situationsMust be willing and able to cross-train in all floor operator areasMust be physically able to perform all job functionsDirectabilityTeamworkAdaptabilityReliability/dependabilityInitiativeSafety awarenessAbility to receive and provide constructive feedbackPride in performanceContinuous Improvement/QualityCommunication.EXPERIENCEPrevious training and experience in a manufacturing environmentPrefer experience with steel making and/or pipe mill operations
