Job Description:
Under general direction, performs a variety of Planning activities required to attain business objectives. Working from the Master Schedule and through the MRP system, schedules operations to meet completion dates, prepares and maintains production schedules, revises schedules and prepares various reports for specific work centers. Works with Purchasing and Planning to obtain and schedule materials based on requirements. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
  • Working from the Master Schedule and other documents, plans and schedules requirements for various operations required to maintain production objectives to meet the Demand Plan.
  • Reviews various daily reports including stock status, product backlog, and ad hoc reports for schedules, capacity, etc., utilizing the MRP system and/or Excel.
  • Creates Planned Orders (long-term planning) and Production Orders (short-term planning), and dispatches schedules to optimize Production and ensures that assigned completion dates are met in accordance with resource availability. Reviews Production Orders and sets to complete status.
  • Works with Molding (Rotational and/or Injection Mold) and/or various Assembly Departments regarding shop floor loading.
  • Works with Purchasing and/or Molding to obtain materials based on requirements.
  • Revises schedule as necessitated by changes in priorities, vendor deliveries, and/or machine/labor capacities.
  • Provides constant feedback to various departments in Supply Chain, Sales, and Customer Service.
  • Actively supports Pelican's commitment to Safety, Quality, and Performance, with an emphasis on Continual Improvement.
  • Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Basic/Intermediate knowledge of production planning and scheduling procedures, manufacturing processes and best practices.
  • Experience utilizing MRP and Excel spreadsheet software in some capacity.
  • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in order to organize, compile, and present data in written and/or verbal report format.
  • Must have very good basic math skills in order to calculate machine capacities and determine their impact on production.
  • This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of 1 - 2 years directly related work experience in a MTS/MTO manufacturing environment.
  • APICS or other accredited Supply Chain certification.

  • Must have the ability to complete assignments within the timeframe specified by the Manager.
  • Must be flexible regarding working hours and overtime. Must be able to work overtime on evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice.
  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be constantly required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).
  • This position requires repetitive hand/wrist activities (extensive use of computer/keyboard).
