Job Brief

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Production Planner to help manage our production scheduling process.

The successful candidate's responsibilities will include determining production requirements, maintaining inventory levels, coordinating production schedules, troubleshooting inventory and labor discrepancies, updating MRP data, and communicating production status updates to managers.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with production planning and a solid understanding of manufacturing processes.

This role serves as the driving force in production. The successful candidate must be able to multitask and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment while being able to diplomatically but effectively work within a team environment to ensure the timely completion of production targets.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Duties & Tasks

  • Manage and direct all phases of manufacturing, including manufacturing order release, material release to manufacturing order, completion of final deliverables, and order fulfillment and shipment.
  • Review sales inquiries/orders to determine schedules and commit ship date based on lead-times and material availability.
  • Review and print customer sales for shipping daily.
  • Generate and release shop floors to the production floor according to the system and sales order needs.
  • Coordinate and adjust production schedules to meet product delivery deadlines by prioritizing operations to achieve maximum performance.
  • Determine progress of work and completion dates and work with the production team leads/coordinators to set daily production priorities.
  • Coordinate reporting and help to resolve issues by working directly with production leadership to identify disruptions, delays, bottlenecks, and reprioritize as needed.
  • Work with the operations team to determine labor and equipment capacity.
  • Participate and contribute production status to production review meetings.
  • Review and update planning work instructions and policies related to the planning group.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure raw materials and finished goods are available to meet production demands, preventing shortages and minimizing excess inventory, by collaborating with procurement and production teams to optimize the overall supply chain.
  • Review and set safety stock and Kan Ban levels for both manufactured and purchased parts.
  • Maintain the electronic and physical Kanban card systems, including but not limited to printing, changing, deactivating, and adding cards to the system.
  • Help identify and correct inventory issues and submit material adjustments to accounting; work with the various departments to identify root causes and implement process changes to avoid re-occurrences.
  • Coordinate weekly transfers from outside vendors as required.
  • Execute end of day process to close out shop floors, complete reporting of labor and materials in ERP system, and generate new shop floors.
  • Work with various departments to help set up new part numbers in the ERP system.
  • Maintain item master data for accuracy; update when required.
  • Work with engineering, production and purchasing teams to review and implement engineering change notices (ECN), making sure all components and assemblies are correctly manufactured and made to the latest engineering revision.
  • Take on other responsibilities as requested by Operations Team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years' experience as a production control specialist, production scheduler, or production planner in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency with computer use, specifically with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficiency in use of MRP / ERP systems (Macola preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience applying lean manufacturing concepts and Kanban system
  • Prior inventory control experience
  • Prior experience with bookkeeping or accounting
  • High attention to detail
  • Positive and team-oriented personality
  • Enjoys a fast-paced work environment
  • Enjoys learning new things and taking on new responsibilities

Pay range for this position: $55,000 - $85,000

Please note that this pay range is a good faith estimate and may vary within the range based on qualifications such as experience and education level.
