Job Title: Production Planner/Scheduler Location: Michigan City, IN Reports to: Production ManagerGeneral Purpose of the Position: The Production Planner/Scheduler is responsible for accurate preparation of manufacturing instruction sheets/routers, raw material allocations, manufacturing data files, and entry of the manufacturing instructions sheets/routers in the scheduling system. Maintain electronic & hard copy filing of relevant manufacturing generated documentation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare daily production schedules.
  • Issue all work orders per production schedule.
  • Create manufacturing instruction sheets / routers, allocate raw material, enter the MIS data into the scheduling system.
  • Compile worksheets and specifications of orders.
  • Maintain data files of open orders and future resource requirements.
  • Monitor future requirements versus known capacities bringing potential imbalances to management attention.
  • Participate with material requirement planning.
  • Assist with cycle counting.
  • Ensure integrity of data entry.
  • Work with supervisors / team leaders to coordinate operations and activities with and between departments.
  • Constantly look for improvements and help implement solutions.
  • Participate in annual inventory.
  • Create forms and documents in MS Excel / MS Word.
  • Assist with sales activities as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
  • College Degree preferred; High School Diploma required
  • Previous production planning and inventory control experience required.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems required; Dynamics 365 experience would be a plus.
  • Experience and knowledge of the wire making process may be substituted for previous experience in planning, inventory control and MRP/ERP systems.
  • Excellent computer skills including strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization.
