Description
- The Production Quality Technician is responsible for completion of analytical and microbiological testing in support of the local Food Safety Quality and Operational teams. Testing may be performed on in-process and final products.
- Responsible for basic instrumentation troubleshooting and maintenance, and the use of these technologies to support of trials and experiments.
- Responsible for checking and monitoring instrumentation performance and routine calibration checks.
- Responsible for entering data into databases and communication of results to stakeholders verbally and in writing.
- Responsible for acquiring samples from the production floor and conducting routine quantitative and qualitative inspections on raw material, in-process, and final products, involving instrumentation analysis and maintenance of technologies including Viscometers, Colorimeters, pNMR, Mettler Drop Point, HPLC, GC, Karl Fischer titrators, analytical balances, moisture balances, water activity meters, and hand-held micrometers in support of daily operations
- Supports trials of both independently and cooperatively designed experiments based on the generation of data using the aforementioned technologies while under the supervision of more senior team members
- Enters data into SAP, Access, and other databases, as well as communicates results verbally or written
- Communicates product test results to internal customers and the release of product meeting prescribed guidelines Determines product standardization decisions based on data
- Performs calibration, calibration checks, preventative maintenance tasks, and simple repair to analytical instrumentation with technologies including: Viscometers, Colorimeters, pNMR, Mettler Drop Point, HPLC, GC, Karl Fischer titrators, analytical balances, moisture balances, water activity meters, and hand-held micrometers.
- Performs miscellaneous job duties as assigned such as; participation in internal audits, additional sampling and testing, maintaining the food safety management system, solution preparation, sensory preparation, inventory management for lab supplies, and cleaning of lab areas.
Competencies
- Required - Associates Degree in a Science related field or a High School Diploma/GED with minimum 1 year of relevant work experience
- Preferred - Associates Degree in a Science field with an understanding of basic science and analytical techniques
- Ability to read site level SOPs and execute tasks according to these SOPs
- Understanding of plant, laboratory, and chemical safety procedures
- Understanding of product sampling procedures both aseptically and for routine analysis
- Understanding of product testing procedures for technologies including Viscometers, Colorimeters, pNMR, Mettler Drop Point, HPLC, GC, Karl Fischer titrators, analytical balances, moisture balances, water activity meters, and hand-held micrometers
- Understanding of environmental monitoring program and sampling procedure
- Ability to use SAP as it pertains to quality management transaction codes
- Ability to use generated data to make informed decision with respect to supporting operations, standardizing tanks, or adjusting the manufacturing process
- Demonstrate a strong sense of team within the FSQR department and regional operations team
- Ability to work collaboratively with FSQR and Operations teams
- Well organized with the ability to effectively communicate
- Ability to maintain high standards despite competing priorities
- Ability to develop achievable tactical plans to meet goals and expectations
- Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:00-3:30 PM
