Position Overview: The Production Scheduler plays a crucial role in ensuring that fabrication processes run smoothly and efficiently and reports to the VP Production. Here are some key responsibilities and qualifications for this role: Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage production schedules to meet production department delivery requirements and optimize the company's productive capacity.
  • Coordinate with production, sales, and purchasing teams to adjust production schedules and meet production goals.
  • Monitor production progress, track actuals against planned, and make routine reports to production department managers.
  • Work with VP Production and Director of Production Planning to resolve any potential delays and update schedules based on changes in availability of raw materials and capacity constraints.
  • Ensure all necessary resources (labor, materials, machinery) are available for production.
  • Communicate with management and stakeholders about the status of production schedules and potential issues and to get input to scheduling efforts. Lead regular and ad-hoc meetings to review schedule with stakeholders.
  • Optimize production operations for maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Qualifications:
  • Educational Background: Prefer an associate degree in business administration, management, production, or a related field. Experience can be substituted for degree.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years experience as a Production Scheduler, Planner, or similar role in a fabrication or manufacturing environment
  • Travel: Some travel will be required up to 15%
  • Work Schedule: 8am to 4:30pm daily (flexible), M-F, may be expected to work additional hours and weekends as required for successful completion of duties and assigned tasks
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and procedures.
    • Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems.
    • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong communication and negotiation abilities, both spoken and written.
    • Proficiency in Tekla EPM or other structural steel MRP systems a plus
    • Excellent decision-making skills in a fast-paced and ever-changing production environment-candidate will be expected to reprioritize scheduled tasks and reassign work to maintain maximum efficiency in four shops
    • Strong analytical skills required to assess schedule impacts, diagnose schedule slippage, and analyze labor budget overruns.
    • Ability to work independently-candidate will be expected to develop their own routing and follow it regularly. Must be able to respectfully explain and defend scheduling decisions.
