How You'll Perform the Role

The Production Supervisor is a first level production management position and is responsible for direct oversight, supervision, training, development, and support of our production and material handling employees.

  • Ensures shift employees are consistently following safe work practices and procedures including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Follows established plant rules and procedures that promote compliance with customer service-related actives, including, but not limited to:
      • Following run-order specifications for each product.
      • Following pre-requisite programs in compliance with SQF Code Manufacture of Food Packaging and food safety requirements.
      • Following all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in compliance with all Food Safety Requirements.
  • Manages Adjuster Supervisors to provide adequate support and training to machine operators.
  • Report daily production, runtime and waste records.
  • Trains employees in proper procedures, coaches them to improve results, and evaluates performance.
  • Leads or supports troubleshooting and resolves process, equipment, and material issues in conjunction with machine operators and support personnel.
  • Interprets work orders and specifications for shift employees, as necessary.
  • Leads or supports efforts to determine root cause and develop corrective actions.
  • Understands production schedule priorities and deploys available labor to effectively complete required production work orders.
  • Spot checks product quality and ensures specifications are being met.
  • Recommends measures to improve safety, production methods, equipment performance, quality of product, and reduction of waste.
  • Suggests changes in procedures, labor utilization, use of equipment, and materials to increase efficiency of plant, shift, department, or work cell.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate employees to achieve work goals.
  • Ensures accuracy of reporting with respect to production, safety, sanitation, quality records, etc.
  • Monitors and reports employee attendance including timeliness of shift, break, and lunch start and stop.

What We Need From You

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S. in Industrial Management) not required but preferred.
  • 5+ years of successful production supervision experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with the willingness and ability to learn new systems.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision to complete job tasks.
  • Resourceful problem solver with proven ability to bring quick resolution to challenging situations.
  • Team player with ability to build lasting productive business relationships with hourly employees, management, and peers.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees, customers, or suppliers.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish preferred
