Job Description:
Creates modules by hand soldering surface mount electronic components and Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) devices to PCBs, using MIL-STD 883, J-STD and Microchip processes. Fabricates wiring harnesses, cable and connector assemblies. Mechanically assembles the individual components into a completed product using proper ESD procedures.
Responsibilities:
* Solders electronic components, wiring harnesses and installs SAW components on printed circuit boards (PCB) using assembly drawings and travelers provided through computer networking.
* Completes module assembly by installing PCB into module case using assembly drawings and traveler provided through computer networking.
* Performs quality inspection of purchased and manufactured products in accordance with established Microchip procedures before and after any assembly task.
* Documents all instances of inspection thru the Work Order Event Database. Reports any unusual discrepancies or problems promptly to management.
* Signs off traveler and moves product forward to Inventory or Test department.
* Proactively participate in Lean Manufacturing activities.
* Other tasks as assigned.
Requirements/Qualifications:
* Ability to multi-task while paying careful attention to detail
* Prior success working both individually and in a team environment
* Good written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to follow written and verbal direction
* Ability to read, comprehend and follow detailed work specifications
* Excellent listening skills
* Adaptability to frequent change and improvements
* Regular and predictable attendance is essential
* Ability to wear the required Protective Equipment
* Basic computer, math and reading comprehension skills
* You must be 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED
Additional Requirements
* Minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment performing assembly and soldering tasks.
* IPC J-STD-001 certification.
* Experience using Microsoft Windows, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Microsoft Internet Explorer and Microsoft Outlook.
* Hands-on experience with electronics manufacturing, materials, and processing.
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with individuals at all levels.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience using a magnification lamp.
* Knowledge of or experience using Lean manufacturing.
