Production SpecialistHouston, TX 77002Sat.-Wed. 8:00am-5:00pmContract / $27.00/hr. DESCRIPTION: Operate all HTV control room hardware for assigned public meetings. This includes operation of robotic camera control, streaming functions, adjusting microphones, and making modifications to the lighting for both the Annex, and city hall, chambers. In addition, the temporary production specialist will use HTV video equipment to record on-site, and off-site, events such as press conferences, town hall meetings, and edit many of those for posting to the city cable channel, HTV social media, and for the Mayor's Office of Communications needs. Finally, the production specialist will also be assigned Tier 1 status for emergency needs at the Houston Emergency Center. TX Driver License required.COMPLEXITY: Work consists of fairly standard procedures and tasks where basic analytic ability is required, as in the comparison of numbers and simple facts in selecting the correct action. IMPACT OF ACTIONS: Errors in work lead to minor inconvenience and incur some costs. Work is typically performed under moderate supervision and within standard operating procedures. The incumbent occasionally can function autonomously, with the supervisor available to answer questions as they arise.SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Direct Supervision: No direct report employees Indirect Supervision: No indirect reports.CONTACTS: Internal Contacts: Level of internal contact is primarily with professionals and supervisors. Interaction involves routine information exchange and/or simple service activity requiring common courtesy; e.g., answering questions, giving directions in response to simple requests.External Contacts: Level of external contact is primarily with citizens, visitors and/or mid-level representatives of government agencies, guests, vendors and professional contacts with allied organizations. Interaction involves routine information exchange and/or simple service activity, which requires common courtesy; e.g., directing calls, and answering simple questions.KNOWLEDGE: An Associate's degree in radio/television/film or a related field is required. EXPERIENCE: Two years of experience in studio or remote production with a broadcast affiliate or public access are required.PHYSICAL EFFORT:The position involves considerable physical exertion, such as regular climbing of ladders, lifting of heavy objects (up to 80 pounds) on a highly frequent basis and/or assuming awkward positions for long periods of time.WORK ENVIRONMENT: There are occasional minor discomforts from exposure to less-than-optimal temperature and air conditions. The position may involve dealing with modestly unpleasant situations, as with occasional exposure to office chemicals and/or extensive use of a video display terminal. PHYSICAL SKILL: Requires the ability to make closely coordinated eye/hand movements within very fine tolerance and/or calibration demands; or the ability to make rapid closely coordinated eye/hand movements on a patterned response space within somewhat fine tolerance demands; or the ability to make coordinated eye/hand movements within fine tolerances with large equipment as an extension of the worker.
