Production Supervisor, 1st shiftWayne, PA (USA)Onsite Monday-Friday As a Production Supervisor at our Brand New DSM Biomedical location in Wayne, PA, a subsidiary of dsm-firmenich, you will assure that DSM products are of consistent and high quality by supervisor assigned areas in compliance with SHE and quality system requirements to achieve customer quality and service expectation. As the primary point of contact and guidance for operators who produce DSM medical devices, this position represents a critical link in ensuring company expectations are appropriately communicated, understood, and carried out by the team. The ideal candidate will have problem solving and leadership skills along with manufacturing experience within a medical device or pharmaceutical environment.At dsm-firmenich, being a force for good is not optional.   • Lead the operations team in daily production activities in a Clean Room manufacturing space while maintaining a safe, productive, high quality, and cooperative environment.
  • Troubleshoot tooling/process problems that occur during daily production activities and correct or recommend changes as necessary.
  • Manage Shop Orders and supporting paperwork for accuracy and completeness. Provide assistance as needed to perform system transactions involving material, labor, and order completion.
  • Deliver daily production targets by monitoring job progress, escalating issues, ensuring all documentation is followed, and updating job progress data in a timely fashion.
  • Coordinate job, safety, and GMP training for production personnel as required and act in accordance with Quality System/GMP and safety requirements.
  • Provide feedback to management regarding areas of non-compliance.
  • Manage the operations staff including talent development while advocating for additional team growth as needed.

You bring:
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in science or engineering discipline or equivalent training and experience required.
  • Good communications skills, understanding of engineering concepts, proven supervisory and management skills, computer literacy.
  • 3-5 years in a production role with progressive responsibilities. Prior supervisor or people leadership experience preferred.
  • Commitment to SHE and Quality, integrity in following procedures, and to a fair and respectful work environment. Position likely to be required to participate in site level SHE response team (emergency response, spill response, etc).
  • The ability to talk with various levels of personnel within the business, including operators, functional department colleagues, managers and at times with external audit bodies and customers.
  • Ability to keep the area running in a safe, efficient manner, with a goal to keep department team members motivated and satisfied. This requires the ability to multi-task, handle stress, function calmly in emergency situations and effectively deal with personnel issues. Because the end use of the product affects patient safety, there is a need to be very knowledgeable in the quality system requirements to being reasonably well-versed in technical aspects of the process. Good judgment and decision making is imperative.
