Job Description:
This position directs and coordinates all activities of the Focus Factory in processing materials or manufacturing products in the organization by performing the following duties personally or through High Performance work team members. The Production Supervisor leads manufacturing, manufacturing engineers and high performance work teams in determination of work scope, tasks, and budgets. This role is responsible for providing methods of cost reduction for production and production-related activities by exercising lean manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques. The Production Supervisor also sets tasks and priorities for high performance work teams; provides technical support, analysis, and guidance of design, manufacturing, customer/contract support, and procurement. The successful candidate requires the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. This person would also have the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Review production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.
  • Reduce cost of operations by implementing Lean Manufacturing, SPC, and Continuous Improvement. Initiate Kaizen events as necessary to achieve best in class operations.
  • Prepare operational schedule and coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
  • Review production and operating reports and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Develop or revise standard operational and working practices and observe workers to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Confer with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls, and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
  • Plan and direct production activities and establish production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
  • Coordinate production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
  • Revise production schedules and priorities as a result of equipment failure or operating problems.
  • Support and promote Affirmative Action and Eaton's Affirmative Action program.

  • Provide general support to engineering during the design phase, providing factory capabilities and testability input into the design.
  • Be prepared to work some extended hours, when necessary, to complete a task.

  • Collaborate with peers and supervisors to determine key goals and objectives, and corresponding metrics, to be completed during a determined period (usually one year). Review and amend these actions as appropriate. Focus on timely achievement of these goals and objectives.
  • Understand, support, promote and improve the processes that are followed in Eaton's quality assurance initiatives.
  • Understand, support, promote and improve the processes that are followed in Eaton's Safety Procedures.Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements)
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution is required.
  • Minimum 1 year of management/supervisory experience in a manufacturing or operations environment is required.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
  • No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate geographical area will be considered for this position.Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Business or other related field from an accredited institution.
  • Management/supervisory experience in the aerospace industry.Position Criteria:
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen events, and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Familiarity/experience with continuous improvement and Six Sigma methodology.
  • Good technical writing and presentation skills.
  • Good verbal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computer based methods and tools.
  • Familiarity with SPC principles and methods.
  • Ability to work well with others in the areas of teamwork and communication.
  • Ability to logically solve problems and to keep projects moving in an orderly and structured fashion.
  • Involvement in successful process definition and re-engineering, a plus.
  • Experience in employee involvement in multi-discipline teaming, a plus.
