Job Duties

  • Schedules production and qualifications for their departments.
  • Verifies that paperwork for jobs is filled out accurately and completely to meet scrutiny of our customers and the FDA.
  • Designs the room schedule based on demand, constraints, etc.
  • Reacts to changes regarding scheduling (change in demand, change in resources, etc.).
  • Responsible for changeover improvement plans and performance tracking.
  • Monitors job processes.
  • Manages people; consistent policy deployment (safety, absenteeism, interviewing, termination, operator discipline, systems).
  • Responsible for the training of operators.
  • Handles any quality and/or people issues.
  • Accountable for business metrics (safety, quality, delivery, and cost).
  • Constant communication with the team leads.
  • Responsible for developing Team Leaders and Assistant Team Leaders.
  • Hourly timekeeping approval.
  • Supports lean initiatives and workshops on the plant floor.
  • Conducts quality audits.
  • Leads walkabout process for their area (visual boards maintained, task trackers, etc.).
  • Maintains a professional demeanor in all situations, setting a positive example. Handles sensitive information and situations with discretion and professionalism. Strictly adheres to company policies and guidelines, promoting a culture of compliance and professionalism.
  • Demonstrates the client's core values of honesty, integrity, and respect.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Impact

  • Monitors daily manufacturing processes for their department to ensure production of received orders.
  • Communicates with Operations Manager to make necessary changes for production of product.

Safety Responsibilities

  • Supervisors are responsible for making sure that all employees comply with safety rules and regulations. Supervisors have the authority to take corrective action as appropriate.
  • Carrying out safety policy and procedures as directed by the department manager.
  • Promoting and maintaining enthusiasm with respect to safety.
  • Conducting thorough accident investigations and submitting them to appropriate personnel on a timely basis.
  • Conducting periodic safety inspections of their areas.
  • Assuring that employees are provided with and wear proper protective equipment.
  • Participating in Job Hazard Analysis, by identifying and documenting any safety concerns.
  • Participating in safety meetings and providing ideas to improve the safety function.

Skills/Technical Skills

  • Communication and people skills.
  • Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, Black Belt preferred.
  • Leadership.
  • Experience with MRP systems.
  • Computer skills required, including Microsoft Office Applications, Lotus Notes, and E-mail.
  • Ability to work any shift including 1st and 2nd shifts.

Knowledge

  • Understands regulated type industries – FDA, FAA, ISO.
  • Knowledge of medical device manufacturer and supplies preferred.
  • World-class manufacturing knowledge preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university.
  • Engineering degree a plus.

Experience

  • 3-5+ years prior experience managing people, planning, scheduling, working with lot controlled product and related paperwork (DHRs/Travelers), and implementing lean preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
