Reports to: Director of Manufacturing

Summary:

The Production Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership, direction and follow-up to deliver desired results in the areas of safety, production, equipment utilization, quality control measures, manpower planning, and overall plant performance in compliance with stated Company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure Productivity numbers are met on a hourly/daily basis
  • Clarify roles and responsibilities of self, team and immediate supervisors; establish high performance standards of immediate reports; provide clear direction and hold supervisors accountable in establishing the same standards for their employees.
  • Optimizes labor utilization through plant manpower planning necessary to ensure coverage and coordination of production activities.
  • Ensure all safety/procedures are clearly communicated, expectations established, and employees are following established guidelines.
  • Develop and promote teamwork among groups; discourages we vs. they thinking and creates an environment where people work their best.
  • Monitor progress of plant/employees and redirect efforts when goals are not being met, control manufacturing, manpower and conversion cost within budgetary limits. Leverage the Wahsegas Pay and Progression Program Skill Level process to maximize employee growth and contribution.
  • Identify efficiency/procedure/performance problems early and take initiative and action to resolve important issues. In conjunction with a systematic communication platform, imbed basic six sigma and lean platform practice into the culture for leading continuous productivity.
  • Analyze problems from different points of view, obtain appropriate feedback and consider alternative solutions before making decisions.
  • Conduct ongoing performance feedback discussions with team/supervisor. Accurately identify strengths and development needs, coach the team in the development of their skills.
  • Put a top priority on safety and delivering results in compliance with company procedures.
  • Maintain open, candid and timely communication channels with subordinates, peers and plant manager.

Qualifications/Education:

  • An associate or bachelors degree is desirable, although previous experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • This position requires strong analytical abilities; knowledge of Excel spreadsheets is mandatory.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing supervision and plant operations is desirable but not required.
  • High energy level and commitment to lead team using excellent and effective communication and leadership skills.
