Waelz Sustainable Products, LLC (WSP) is a partnership between Indianapolis-based Heritage Environmental Services and Zinc Nacional, both fourth-generation family-owned businesses. Our companies have a long history of operating safe, efficient and sustainable businesses which include Zinc Nacional's nearly seven decades of expertise in producing zinc oxide from mine ore and steel mill byproducts. Zinc oxide is an important ingredient in many consumer products including sun block, diaper rash cream, cosmetics and dietary supplements to name a few.Production SupervisorJOB SUMMARY:The Production Supervisor will provide leadership for all production employees on their assigned shift. Responsible for safety, environmental compliance, productivity, quality, 5S, process improvements, and positive employee engagement.DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible to lead their team/shift to create a safe, environmentally compliant workplace that produces high quality products in a cost-efficient manner.
  • Must perform all duties and activities in a manner that is aligned with our company values: Integrity, Humility, Innovation, Open to Change, Collaboration, Excellence and Customer Focus.
  • Responsible for day-to-day supervision of employees. Maintain all time, attendance, work schedules and coaching/disciplinary action for each direct report in a timely manner.
  • Assures proper training and guidance for all new and current employees.
  • Communicates cross-functionally with other departments (maintenance, quality, HR, safety) or other shifts to report issues, concerns, or to share best practices.
  • Responsible for assisting in recruitment, development, promotion, and disciplinary actions of hourly team members.
  • Responsible for overall performance management for hourly employees including goals/objectives, periodic and annual performance reviews.
  • Must be willing and able to fill in on various positions on assigned shift as back-up to operators.
  • Must perform continual monitoring of processes and assist with inspections, compliance audits, data collection and entry.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Mechanically inclined with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organized with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and heavy industrial environment.
  • Must have willingness and ability to learn the techniques and processes of the production department.
  • Must have basic computer (Microsoft Office Suite) and strong typing skills.
  • Must complete and maintain any assigned company required training and certifications.
  • Flexibility to re-prioritize task as needs change with strong time management skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:High School diploma: Some vocational, technical or community college with related coursework or equivalent experience, preferred. 3-5 years' experience in heavy industrial environment preferred. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Prolonged periods standing and walking.
  • Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.
  • Must be able to visually inspect machines.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to climb stairs/ladders on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work in all outdoor weather conditions.
  • Must be capable of operating all manufacturing and mobile equipment including loaders, forklifts, scissor lifts, etc.
  • Must be able to work wearing appropriate safety PPE including respirators.
