Kopp Glass, a Pittsburgh-based manufacturer of high-performance, custom glass products, is seeking to hire an experienced Production Supervisor to direct and coordinate production departments in accordance with company goals and quality objectives. Production Supervisors are responsible for the day-to-day manufacturing operations for an assigned area and shift. Currently we are seeking to hire multiple positions, including daylight and off shift coverage.
The ideal candidate will exhibit a 'roll up the sleeves' approach to getting things done and will thrive in a collaborative, fast paced environment. They will be able to adapt to changing priorities based on staff and operational needs, must be highly self-motivated, and demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering quality products on time. To be successful in this role, the Production Supervisor must be highly organized and able to direct and prioritize work based on business needs. Due to the nature of our business, our facilities operate 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, 365 days/year. Therefore, this position may require rotating shift work, as well as weekend and/or holiday work.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Assigns monitors, and reviews work completion.
* Ensures that production standards and work instructions aligned with the Kopp's Quality Management System (QMS) are adhered to by team members.
* Requisitions required materials and supplies to provide efficient operations and to maintain proper inventories on hand.
* Leverages daily, weekly, and monthly reporting metrics to measure key indicators of performance (labor productivity, efficiency, time and attendance, quality, etc.) to provide impactful feedback to department employees.
* Supervises hourly employees in production departments and ensures that all company policies and the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) are followed.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Education; Associates degree or equivalent education from a technical school preferred, but not required
* 5+ years of Supervisory experience in a unionized manufacturing or industrial environment
* Must be available to work one of three standard production shifts as assigned, and/or rotate shifts to ensure direct supervision of the hourly workforce. Ability to work rotating shifts which will include extended workdays, weekends, and holidays if required
* Proficient Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred, but not required
* Basic knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards
* Proficient in reading and analyzing technical drawings
* Basic understanding of ISO 9001:2015 standard preferred but not required
