The Role

We are seeking a Production Supervisor to oversee production in our batch-based chemical manufacturing environment. This position requires strong technical expertise, particularly in chemical processes, as well as leadership skills to guide and develop a production team. The ideal candidate will hold a degree in chemical engineering and possess the ability to bridge technical knowledge with operational oversight. This role presents an opportunity for growth into broader operational (operations) leadership.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

* Plan and implement work schedules to support a 24/5 operation, ensuring the efficient utilization of manpower and equipment to meet production demand.

* Identify and communicate equipment, material, and process needs with management, engineering, and maintenance to address production constraints and improve efficiencies.

* Make independent decisions within established procedures, fully understanding and following MOC (Management of Change), ECN (Engineering Change Notice), and SETCO (Safety, Engineering, Technology, Construction, Operations) requirements.

* Develop, train, and certify team members on job-specific tasks, tracking individual performance in alignment with HR policies and operational procedures.

* Participate in daily Production Scheduling meetings to align production activities with schedule changes and operational needs.

* Ensure GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) compliance within the production team, maintaining complete and accurate documentation. Write, review, and approve standard operating procedures and work instructions, maintain operations training modules.

* Foster a safe and quality-driven work environment through effective communication, compliance with safety standards, and promotion of best practices.

* Lead team dynamics through effective team meetings, one-on-one communication, and problem-solving, ensuring adherence to required training modules and safety protocols.

* Take responsibility for daily production activities, driving accountability, resolving issues, and filling operational gaps as needed to meet production goals.

REQUIREMENTS

Required:

* Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering. A related technical field with equivalent experience in chemical manufacturing may be considered. A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.

* Demonstrated ability to lead a team in a high-paced industrial environment, applying critical problem-solving skills to resolve production issues under time constraints.

* Strong understanding of Root Cause Analysis (5Y, Fishbone) and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma).

* Familiarity with GMP, MOC, ECN, and other chemical process requirements.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), SAP or other ERP systems, and barcode scanning systems.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings and recommendations to senior management.

* Ability to manage multiple long-term projects simultaneously, maintaining detailed and accurate records.

* Knowledge of Total Cycle Time metrics, Direct Labor metrics, Shop Floor Control processes and Safe Working Methodologies are required.

Preferred:

* Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.

* Lean Six Sigma certification or formal process improvement training.

* Experience in the microelectronics or chemical manufacturing industries.

Physical Requirements

* Ability to wear a respirator when working in areas with airborne particles, vapors, or other hazards.

* Frequently lift and carry objects weighing 10-25 lbs, such as tools, parts, or small equipment.

* Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs independently.

* For items exceeding 50 lbs., lifting is required with mechanical assistance (e.g., hoists, lifts) or team lifting to ensure safety.

* Organizational skills - Ability to multitask without loss of efficiency or accuracy, the ability to work and sustain attention with distractions and interruptions, the ability to perform in situations requiring speed, deadlines or productivity quotas.
