Production SupervisorContract manufacturer, Fareva Richmond Inc. is currently seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to join their team. We are a three-shift operation, and candidate must be able to work 2nd Shift.Job summary: This role reports to the Director of Operations - Pharma and revolves around the strategic development of a weekly production schedule designed to align with sales forecasts, demand projections, and current finished goods inventory levels. The proposed schedule is carefully reviewed for feasibility, ensuring the availability of bulk products from external suppliers, equipment capacity, and sufficient labor hours. Once approved, the schedule is formalized, and department activities commence to transform SKUs into distribution- and sales-ready formats.Simultaneously, batch records, packaging records, and related documentation are prepared, completed, and reviewed to ensure full compliance with both company standards and governmental regulations.The position also involves leading or supporting projects aimed at driving new business initiatives, enhancing equipment and labor efficiencies, optimizing material flow, and improving documentation processes.All activities are executed in a collaborative team environment, guided by FAREVA's core values and commitment to excellence.Summary of Essential job functions:
  • With the direction of the Area Manager, this role manages all activities associated with current and new business, production of products.
  • Ensures the timely completion of projects, production schedule in order to maintain necessary days of supply of finished goods to meet customer demand.
  • Drives and supports the implementation of process improvements for both equipment and human resource needed to maintain quality in a competitive cost structure for products produced.
  • Ensures compliance in a manufacturing/packaging environment with Corporate (SCI, cGMP's) guidelines, State, and Federal Requirements (FDA, OSHA, EPA) for product quality and safety.
  • Interfaces on a daily basis with support departments including quality assurance (product, materials, and documentation), human resources, materials management, technical services, engineering (site and divisional), training, as well as site management in the areas of production and safety.
  • Responsible for ensuring that equipment, employees, and means of production for manufacturing and packaging are in place and performing according to defined standards.
  • With support of department manager, develops appropriate analyses of facilities, equipment, and staff to quantify capacities, constraints, and department capabilities.
  • Key contributor in the development of factory direction, goals, operating and capital budget, labor planning, and financial accountability.
  • Supports and represents Production Manager for signatory and presence during absences, delegated assignments, and scheduling conflicts.
Requirements: Education and Experience: BS/BA in Science, Engineering, Business or related field. A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a production/manufacturing environment. OR A minimum of 3-5 years' in direct supervision/management role. Candidate should possess education and/or background to support a strong focus on project implementation, improvement of process/equipment and operational effectiveness. Extensive experience in managing a large hourly and exempt workforce is required. It is essential the incumbent possess a strong floor presence. Background should be in Consumer Goods manufacturing and packaging. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: A high degree of leadership skills including superior human relations skills: i.e. negotiation, coaching, teamwork, and communication both verbal and written. Incumbent should be an effective communicator both up and down the organizational chain. A high degree of technical expertise in dealing with high-speed diverse mixing and packaging equipment is required. Must be results oriented and familiar with lean manufacturing techniques, including product costing. Familiarity with manufacturing in an FDA or ISO controlled environment is a must.
