Alphagary designs and manufactures specialty compounds for applications that are extruded or molded by our customers into a variety of end-products that we find in everyday life.
As part of the Operations Team, be responsible for the direct supervision of the production facility and employees operating manufacturing lines. Your focus will be to ensure proper training, safety protocols, quality levels and production scheduling.
You will:
* Lead, Motivate and give feedback to a shift team of up to 30 Operators, indirect leadership to Maintenance and Quality staff.
* Use KPI and data to record performance and identify / implement opportunities to improve performance across Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
* Working closely with EHS Specialist, ensure all production operations are carried out safely and all aspects of statutory, Company and insurer's safety and environmental policies are met. Provide feedback for the development and improvement of Company Safety Policies and Procedures. Ensure the maintenance of good standards of housekeeping and cleanliness. Responsible for conducting and documenting monthly safety routines.
* Ensure all employees are familiar with hazardous materials procedures, emergency procedures, and access to Safety Data Sheets and personal protection equipment.
* Ensure quality of finished goods through adherence to operating/production guidelines established for each product and that parameters are clearly known and understood by employees.
* Lead resources to ensure that production volumes and product mix are achieved in accordance with the production schedules. Prepare and provide extrusion/blending reports to management.
* Optimize production efficiency through coordination of extrusion and blender schedules. Track and communicate critical material inventories to Production Control to ensure appropriate levels are maintained.
* Under the direction of the Production Manager, ensure that the department is organized and supervised to provide safe, flexible working conditions to minimize down time and costs. Monitor and maintain overhead costs and staffing levels to control unnecessary expenses. Ensure effective motivation, training, development and utilization of employees, ensure communication and relationships are developed and maintained on all shifts.
* Monitor processing conditions and in liaison with the Production Manager and Process Engineering, investigate process variations and deficiencies and make recommendations to rectify the process parameters to improve or restore acceptable quality standards. Communicate information/recommendations regarding process deficiencies and variations to Quality and Technical Departments.
* Ensure the development and maintenance of sound human, working and industrial relationships under the direction of the Production Manager. Ensure that all day-to-day aspects of staffing are effectively coordinated between shifts to ensure consistency. Ensure that all Rules, Regulations, Procedures are adhered to and effectively operate.
* Train new hires, motivate and monitor performance to ensure acceptable work standards.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Business, management or process engineering a plus.
* 5 years of experience in a manufacturing leadership position. (Plastics compound production or plastics extrusion production could be helpful)
* Excellent communication and listening skills

* Strong collaboration and teaming skills with stakeholders across functions
* Ability to coach and train employees
* Ability to be an on-shift resource for troubleshooting problems in the process as well as maintenance issues

* Demonstrated focus on safety and quality
* Familiarity with ISO 9000, TS 16949, Lean or Six Sigma preferred.
The compensation for this position will typically range from $78,000 - 100,000/yr (or post the hourly starting rate). The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity.
The compensation package may also include short and long-term incentive compensation.
