Sawmill Supervisors are committed to, and accountable for, the team's success through active participation in a collaborative team environment. They will also provide day-to-day leadership and direction to support the achievement of department, team, and individual job goals. The Sawmill Supervisor position reports to the Sawmill Superintendent.As a Sawmill Supervisor, you will role model Weyerhaeuser's core values of safety, integrity, citizenship, sustainability, and inclusion by working with other leaders and your team to create a positive environment with open, honest communication among associates. A large part of success in this role involves tactical planning, direction-setting, and leadership to meet and exceed Millport's goals through quality work execution, teamwork, and operational driven reliability. You will also safely plan, coordinate, and maintain operational schedules and support maintenance to ensure continuous process improvement. You will be accountable and responsible for delivering top quartile results in the areas of Safety, Utilization, Quality, and Costs in the Sawmill. Additional responsibilities include coordinating team training, certification of employee skills, building employee relations, and managing Sawmill safety & environmental requirements.Key Functions:Plan, develop, manage, and provide effective leadership for the Sawmill's Night Shift Operations TeamEnsure the safety of all associates by identifying safety issues and taking measures to proactively address concernsActively supervise and develop the operational team to ensure effective communication across and between shiftsUtilize troubleshooting skills to generate corrective work orders to reduce unscheduled downtimeEfficiently use reliable troubleshooting methods to ensure uptime, production volume, and quality goals are metEffectively utilize training resources to maximize team technical skillsLead team meetings and trainingsIdentify safety, reliability, environmental, quality and production issuesCoordinate with the maintenance team to maximize productivity and minimize costPartner with Quality Control to reduce waste and maximize fiber recoveryDemonstrate Caring Leadership by proactively resolving employee issues, consistently promoting solid teamwork, and ensuring adherence to all applicable site policies and procedures in a fair and consistent mannerOther duties as assignedAdditional Qualifications/ResponsibilitiesQualificationsHigh School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)At least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environmentAt least 1 year of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or industrial environmentStrong work ethic, good judgment, and decision-making skillsDemonstrated commitment to safe work behaviors and experience leading and ensuring compliance with safety initiativesAbility to identify the root cause of problems and effectively initiate immediate corrective action to prevent reoccurrenceExcellent interpersonal, written, verbal and electronic communication Demonstrated ability to raise performance and deliver top-quartile results by building and maintaining positive relationships with all associates through coaching, development, and instilling a continuous improvement mindsetStrong planning and organizational skillsProven track record of demonstrating leadership skills and a positive influence, as well as accomplishments in proactively influencing safety, reliability, environmental, quality, productivity, and people developmentDemonstrated basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, other Windows based programs, and internet skillsAble to perform all essentials functions of an industrial environment, including lifting 2-20 pounds regularly, lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, climbing steps/ladders, working from heights, standing or walking for 2-3 hours at a time for 10 hours or more, working in extreme temperatures, dust, and noise while wearing all safety equipmentFlexible with schedule and able to work any shift, weekends, overtime, and holidays as neededSuccessful completion of background check and post-offer pre-employment drug screen Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree (or higher) in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical), Industrial Technology, or Wood Science Experience in wood products sawmill processesHands-on experience working with optimizing systemsDesire to progress into advanced leadership positions without mobility restrictionsKnowledge of maintenance planning software, such as Maximo or SAPWorking knowledge of business and financial conceptsDemonstrated results in achieving and sustaining business goalsWhat We Offer:Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $66,800 to $100,000 based on your level of skills, qualifications, and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 5% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.
