Become a member of our team to help protect our natural resources while enjoying work/life balance in a professional culture with competitive pay and benefits.Job Summary: This is independent professional engineering work reviewing environmental resource permits and compliance and enforcement projectsJob duties:* Reviews the engineering portion of the larger and/or more complex compliance and enforcement projects, including as-built inspections, to evaluate conformance with District rules and permits. Responsibilities include conducting periodic site inspections during and upon completion of project construction/implementation to monitor system conditions; evaluating compliance submittals; reviewing and evaluating monitoring reports; responding to complaints and public information requests pertaining to rule violations; facilitating resolutions to non-compliance issues; performing permit determinations; writing technical reports and enforcement action; reviewing legal documents and coordinating with legal staff; coordinating with other compliance team members and supervisors, as necessary; documenting compliance actions, activities and pertinent information in e-Reg; communicating regularly with the supervising engineer, compliance coordinator on compliance matters of heightened concern.* Reviews the engineering portion of the larger and/or more complex applications for Environmental Resource Permits. Responsibilities include review of construction plans/drawings, calculations, data, legal documents, and hydrologic modeling to determine if projects meet the District criteria for water quality and flood protection; preparing technical staff reports and letters; conducting pre-application meetings including meeting to assist consultants in developing and completing their application through the design review process; coordinating the review of projects with other review team members and supervisors, as necessary; documenting project actions, activities, and pertinent information in e-reg; communicating regularly with supervisor on projects of heightened concern, and testifying as an expert witness in legal proceedings.Minimum Qualifications:Professional Engineer - requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in environmental, civil, hydraulic, agricultural or water resource engineering, and registration by the State of Florida as a Professional Engineer.Senior Professional Engineer - requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in environmental, civil, hydraulic, agricultural or water resource engineering, registration by the State of Florida as a Professional Engineer, and one-year subsequent experience in work directly related to the field in which the position is assigned.An advanced degree may substitute for a portion of the required experience.Physical Requirements/Working Environment:Mostly office environment sitting at a desk and operating a personal computer to produce work products with some field visits as required.Periodic field visits:Applicant must have ability to endure outdoor environments in uncomfortable temperatures, inclement weather, and remote locations.Licenses:Valid State of Florida Driver's License.State of Florida Professional Engineer License.Additional Details:Starting Salary Range:Professional Engineer - $75,753.60 - $98,467.20Senior Professional Engineer - $81,057.60 - $105,352.00Starting salary is based on qualifications and experience.Benefits include Hybrid work schedule, Florida Retirement System, health insurance, paid parental leave, dental insurance, life insurance, long-term disability, paid leave and holidays, professional development, wellness program, and eligible for public service student loan forgiveness program.Your application will receive careful consideration, and if selected for an interview, you will be contacted to schedule an appointment.
