Located on Philadelphia's historic Independence Mall, steps from where the Constitution was drafted and signed, it serves as America's leading platform for constitutional education and debate, fulfilling its congressional charter to disseminate information about the U.S. Constitution on a nonpartisan basis in order to increase awareness and understanding of the Constitution among the American people. Position Summary The Professional Learning Specialist will work as part of the education team to support both teacher and student civic learning. This position will assist with the delivery and continuous development of the Center's professional development offerings, taking into consideration best practices in adult learning theory, professional learning models, and current pedagogical methods. The Professional Learning Specialist will present sessions to educators and coordinate logistical efforts for all professional learning endeavors. The specialist will also attend education and civics conferences nationwide to share information about the Center's educational materials and programs. This position will collaborate with other members of the education department to develop interactive and relevant educational programming that aligns with the Center's goals, and with educational best practices within the field for both student and adult learners. The work week for this position is currently Monday - Friday; however scheduled work hours will be adjusted at times according to the needs of the department and museum. Participation in certain special events, evenings, weekends, and holidays will occasionally be necessary. This position is open to candidates in the Philadelphia area who can be in the office two-three times per week. Responsibilities and Duties
- Work with the Education Team to provide professional learning opportunities to educators nationwide, including coordinating logistics of the program, leading sessions, and delivering tours that are crafted to meet the needs of overall programmatic goals.
- Travel to national and regional conferences nationwide to present the Center's educational resources.
- Coordinate logistics at the Center to support professional learning work nationwide, including shipping, organizing, and collaborating on appropriate outreach materials.
- Plan and prepare for the Center's Summer Teacher Institutes, including assisting in the scheduling process, collaborating on the logistical components for each program, and supporting the session delivery throughout the institutes.
- Support in the development of preparatory materials, follow-up resources, and additional materials that will engage educators during the professional learning process.
- Collaborate with members of the Education Team to coordinate efforts across professional learning and teacher network-based projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Please note that this job entails heavy travel and will involve coordinating and delivering professional learning in cities and town across the continental United States and potentially US territories.

Physical Demands
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer.
- May be required to work in a kneeling, stooping, bending, or prone position for a prolonged period of time on an infrequent basis.
- Some moderate lifting, forty (40) pounds or less, may be required on an infrequent basis.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required in education, history, political science, government, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
- 5+ years of classroom experience and/or in designing and delivering professional learning.
- Understanding of adult learning practices and overall educational concepts.
- Engaging public speaker, as well as excellent writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work weekends, evening hours, or holidays as needed and assigned.
- Travel to professional education workshops and conferences, both regional and national, to present the Center's educational resources.
