Represents division to commercial, institutional, and industrial representatives; assists with division programs consistent with goals and objectives of division. Position InformationWorks with assigned commercial, industrial, and institutional entities to identify solid waste streams providing opportunities to reduce, reuse, and recycle.Manages YSU composting program.Initiates education of employees of assigned entities to reduce, reuse, recycle, and provide waste minimization.Identifies and provides guidance on how solid waste disposal costs could be reduced, recycling profits could be realized, and positive public image could be gained.Develops recycling routes. Researches ways to save the university money through waste reduction and recycling. Develops waste management plans, policies, and procedures for assigned entities.Acts as liaison between Division and assigned institutional, industrial, and commercial entities including the Mahoning County Solid Waste District.Prepares and maintains monthly reports and records of waste minimization and recycling programs for Division.Cooperatively works with YSU CERTT, Youngstown Regional Chamber, and other programs in achieving Division goals and objectives.Makes presentations about institutional, commercial, and industrial waste minimization services to business, industry, and community groups.Recruits business, industrial, educational, and community groups to participate in Division's waste minimization and recycling programs.Works with Marketing and Communications to organize media programs, press releases, and PSA's for special events.Applies for local, state, and federal grants for assistance in recycling and composting projects.Consults for other local, state, and national business, industrial, educational, and community groups to implement waste reduction, recycling, and waste minimization programs.Prepares and maintains monthly reports and records of waste minimization and recycling programs for Division and State and Federal agencies. Maintains departmental budget through Banner.Attends meetings and serves on temporary committees as requested.Maintains and increases knowledge and skills through attendance at meetings, conferences, training seminars, and in-service training sessions.Provides guidance, experience, and leadership to YSU interns.Other Functions and Responsibilities: Assists with training new hires.Performs other duties as assigned and/or required that are within the level of responsibility for this classification at the discretion of the supervisor.Equipment Operated: Computer and all other standard office equipment.Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday. Preferred Qualifications: Two or more years of experience in solid waste management; knowledge of computer software and spreadsheet programs, waste minimization programs, and recycling programs for industrial, commercial, and institutional entities; and experience using recycling equipment.
