Salary: $12.00 HourlyLocation : Multiple locations, LAJob Type: Part TimeJob Number: PA2024Department: RecreationOpening Date: 05/03/2024Closing Date: 9/27/2024 4:59 PM CentralFLSA: Non-ExemptGeneral SummaryThe Program Aide works at BREC recreation sites assisting staff with activities, supervising sports, recreational/educational activities on site and on field trips, adhering to operating and safety rules and regulations.Requirements and Job SpecificationsExperience working with youth; Ability to supervise and actively participate with 10-15 active children;Ability to work with participants, staff, and the general public;Leadership skills, including ability to inspire confidence and enthusiasm to participants;Skilled in varied sports/recreation activities such as bowling, skating, field games, etc.Ability to adapt activities for children with disabilities so that inclusion (interaction with children with and without disabilities can participate together) can occur is preferred. Functions and DutiesEssential Functions of the Job:Duties include but not limited to:
  • Assisting with organization, leading and teaching of one or more recreation activities of various types of recreation programs including nature studies, arts and crafts, sports, games, music, special features, events or field trips;
  • Communicating, enforcing, and adhering to rules and regulations for operation, safety and welfare of participants;
  • Reporting to supervisor on activities, participants, programs, carrying our policies and objectives of programs.
  • Adaptive assignment may also include: Assisting individuals of all ages and abilities; completing individual assessments, adopting activities for participants; and assisting individuals with transfer and personal care of participants.
  • Athletics assignments may also include: Updating game/sports standings; monitoring sports field schedules; training and scheduling sports officials; developing appropriate sports drills and performing referee functions for sports programs and events.

One may choose to participate in a variety of banking services including checking, savings, Christmas Clubs, direct payroll deposit, major credit cards or personal loans. Eligibility and rates are determined by the credit union governing board.EMPLOYEE/FACILITY PRIVILEGE: BREC employees who actively participate in BREC programs gain a better knowledge and understanding of facility needs. This generates understanding and cooperation in interdepartmental needs. Some restrictions may apply.PAID TIME OFF: Part-time employees who work a minimum of 29 hours per week and at least 1,000 hours will be eligible to accrue Paid Time Off (PTO) hours. The purpose of the Paid Time Off benefit is to allow part time employees greater flexibility to take time off for vacation, sick and/or personal time. The maximum accrual is 40 hours per fiscal year. Once employees reach the cap, the employee will not accumulate any more PTO until some of the time in the account is utilized. After the balance goes below the maximum, the employee will begin accruing PTO again. Except for illness, employees are required to obtain supervisor approval in advance for the time off. PSLF: BREC is a qualifying employer for public service loan forgiveness.
