DescriptionProgram Associate Are you passionate about environmental justice and access to a healthy environment for all? The Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park is looking for a self-motivated, organized, and teamwork-oriented individual to assist across departments in the Environmental Education Center. Under the direction of the Culinary Program Manager, the Program Associate is responsible for the preparation of materials, cleaning, and related tasks of the Conservancy operations. What you'll do: Position Description, Essential Duties (other duties as assigned): Essential duties include:
  • Prepare food and beverages, in quantitative portions, for up to 150 people in a timely manner.
  • Carry out dishwashing procedure using automatic dish machine and/or manual 3- compartment sink technique depending on need.
  • Organize and set up dish wares/ bus station for meals and breakdown and clean up after meals.
  • Maintain work areas in a safe clean manner and execute daily/weekly cleaning assignments.
  • Operate and clean equipment; and perform preventive maintenance.
  • Observe all food safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Support Program Staff with set-up / tear-down of class spaces & materials
  • Organize and put away program materials
  • Help sort & distribute packages and mail
  • Employee must be able to satisfactorily perform the essential duties/functions as outlined in the position's job description.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Status/Pay/Benefits: Part-Time, non-exempt, $17.00 hourly. No benefits are associated with this position. RequirementsQualifications:
  • Applicant must be 18 years or older. Certification in food safety and sanitation strongly recommended.
  • Experience in quantitative food preparation preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, write, and interpret recipes, dietary restrictions and related correspondence. Excellent math skills required.
  • Ability to use ovens, microwave, food processor, dish machine, food cart, knives, mixer, refrigeration units and laundry equipment.
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as operate independently.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • The employee must be able to work the assigned hours for this position; occasional evenings and weekends are required.
  • Reliable transportation is required.
  • The individual must be able to perform the essential functions of the job satisfactorily as outlined in this job description. Where necessary for a qualified individual with a disability to perform the essential functions of the job, reasonable accommodations will be provided.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee must be able to walk between campuses; the noise level in the kitchen is moderate to high; the employee is occasionally required to lift up to fifty (50) and must be able to stand an average of 8 hours per day. The employee is often exposed to industrial strength cleaning chemicals, hot equipment, cold equipment, institutional size equipment and sharp objects.
  • Employees who are required to drive a Conservancy and/or government vehicles per their essential job duties must have a valid Driver's License, evidence of insurability, and meet our driving record policy. Employee may be required to participate in and pass the government Defensive Driving course.
  • Every Conservancy employee must understand and value racial equity as an organizational operating principle and be committed to continued learning on issues related to race, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • All employees of the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park are required to submit to a background check and/or fingerprint check prior to employment. Background checks may be subject to repeat every five (5) years. Employees of who will be working around children must be fingerprinted for criminal record check for the state of Ohio and FBI fingerprint checks. The Ohio BCI and FBI fingerprint checks are repeated every five (5) years. All employees working with children must also sign an Annual Voluntary Disclosure Statement and will be checked against the National Sex Offender Database website on an annual basis.
