Job Summary The Program Coordinator supports Horizons Student Support Services by coordinating all aspects of the tutoring program. Provides additional opportunities for student growth and development of Horizons scholars by creating opportunities to expose them to and prepare them for undergraduate research opportunities. This position will evaluate and assess tutoring programs to contribute to positive student success outcomes. The Program Coordinator will recruit, train, and supervise tutors while under general supervision. In addition, this role will facilitate academic-based Accountability Groups, identify research engagement opportunities, and provide supplemental advising and case management intervention support for scholars from low-income and/or first-generation backgrounds.
This position has a limited duration of five years with continuation dependent upon additional funding at the conclusion of the 2020-2025 grant cycle Please submit a cover letter for full consideration What You'll Be Doing - Provide leadership in managing the Horizons tutoring (1:1 and Group) programs
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise tutors under general supervision.
- Oversee the dissemination and facilitation of tutor requests.
- Coordinate the placement of tutors in a timely manner.
- Monitor the effectiveness and efficiency of tutoring sessions.
- Evaluate and assess 1:1 and Group tutoring programs for overall program enhancement and success through quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- Collaborate with other SI and Tutoring programs on campus to ensure the exploration of best practices and resources toward supporting positive student success outcomes.
- Regularly monitor progress of scholar caseload and provide supplemental advising and case management intervention support to address barriers to retention, holistic wellbeing, and timely graduation.
- Work collaboratively with university offices to connect scholars to essential support services and campus resources.
- Document notes and services rendered in BoilerConnect and StudentAccess.
- Facilitate Academic-Based Accountability Groups and identify research engagement opportunities.
- Attend professional development opportunities related to STEM field education specifically as it relates to women, minorities, and low-income/first generation students.

What We Are Looking For Education and Experience Qualified candidates will need:
- Master's degree in science education, technology, engineering, math, or related field
- One year of experience in working with students in student services, advising or counseling (relavant graduate work will be accepted)
- In lieu of degree, consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience: Bachelor's degree plus three years of experience
Skills needed:
- Strong content knowledge regarding science, math and technology.
- Familiarity with STEM courses at the post-secondary level.
- Knowledge in academic advising, program planning, and ability to organize and communicate effectively.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic backgrounds, and physical and learning abilities of Horizons scholars.
- Demonstrated experience in compiling, analyzing, and presenting data to inform decision making and drive student success.
- Ability to collaborate with others and relate to people of all ages and backgrounds.
Nice to have:
- Experience in tutoring and/or supplemental instruction program facilitation
- Experience as a graduate assistant in a STEM field
- TRIO experience as a student or professional
