Reporting to Director, Graduate Affairs or Chair of the Geography Department, the Program Coordinator for the College of Liberal Arts will be responsible for supporting CLA's graduate programs by serving as the lead recruiter for the Professional Master Programs in Sustainability, GIS, and Geospatial Data Science. Essential Functions: Program Administration •Assists with the development and implementation of a recruiting strategy for graduate PSM programs with the goal of increasing enrollment. Collaborates with other schools and colleges to enhance the recruiting effort. •Assists with the admissions processes and collaborates with recruitment staff in other areas. •Maintains accurate records on recruiting, retention, and placement of graduate students in coordination with program directors. •Manages CRM software to track contact with prospects and facilitate the admissions process. •Assists in the design and development of strategies for creatively automating procedures with the goal of positively affecting work in all levels of administration. •Works with marketing, web, and other College and University teams to ensure that CLA PSM graduate program information is accurate and up to date. Designs and implements a successful marketing program plan to promote the Professional Science Masters in Geographic Information Systems, Geospatial Data Science, and Sustainability. •Coordinates student internship programs. •Coordinates management of graduate admission files. •Maintains student files for graduate students. •Coordinates Advisory Board communications and activities. Advising •Works closely with incoming students to foster successful transition to the program; •Participates in department-level interventions, and in collaboration on cross-campus student interventions where appropriate; •Takes personal responsibility and professional pride in providing quality academic counseling to students with the goal of timely graduation, with special attention to patterns of student success and/or difficulty; •Develops familiarity with issues faced by certain student populations (e.g., non-traditional students, non-majority gender students, students of color, first generation college students, transfer students,...) and develop advising approaches accordingly; •Engages students with faculty at points where detailed, discipline-specific knowledge and perspective will best address student needs. Required Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree and three years of experience preferably in higher education admissions or university student services environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Preferred: experience in Geography, GIS, Environmental studies Required Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Google App Suite.
- Knowledge of graduate admissions requirements, college and university processes.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to travel to off campus locations that may not be accessible via public transportation.
- Excellent customer service skills along with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
- Demonstrated ability to promote scientific and technical programs.
- Ability to work nights and/or weekends, if necessary.
