About Houston-Galveston Area Council The Houston-Galveston Area Council is one of the largest regional planning commissions in the country with a diverse service area of 13 counties and more than7million people. We work to make the region a great place to live, work, and thrive. What will I bedoing? Providing support to enhance and expand the provision of pre-employment transition services to students with disabilities between the ages of 14 and 22 who are in the early phases of preparing for transition to post-secondary education and employment. Working with Vocational Rehabilitation Service staff, Workforce Solutions staff including career office, employer service, Regional Team and Board staff, school district staff, employers and employee associations, and community partners to increase the success of students with disabilities in transitioning to postsecondary education and employment. Assisting with the planning, development, and execution of presentations, projects, and initiatives. Coordinating with internal and external customers, partners, and stakeholders. Tracking and communicating initiative information to various audiences in appropriate formats. Ensuring assignments are executed in accordance with the Workforce Board's directive and compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.KeyQualifications Experience working with individuals with disabilities. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Ability to build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders. Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and teamwork capabilities. Proficiency in all Microsoft Office software applications.Do you have... Bachelor's degree in an applicable academic discipline orrelatedfield of study. 3years of experienceworking with local government, nonprofit programs, schools, or in job-related duties.Preferred Qualifications 5 years of experienceworking with social, behavioral, health or human service field, local government, nonprofit programs, school, or in job-related duties.
