Position Summary

The Dementia Together Program Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting our mission to enhance the lives of individuals affected by dementia. This position requires a compassionate individual with strong interpersonal communication, organizational, and data management skills to ensure the smooth operation of our programs and services. This position assists with providing high-quality programming that brings hope, enrichment, and joy to people impacted by dementia and their care partners. This position requires a passion for facilitating positive engagement opportunities, including memory cafes and other social gatherings with people living with dementia and their care partners in the community and in care communities. The Dementia Together Program Coordinator will report directly to the Manager of Hope and will work collaboratively with the Enrichment and Education Managers to ensure the success of our programs.

Professionally and positively represents the organization with integrity and with a respectful, joyful kindness and enthusiasm, exemplifying dementia-friendly communication strategies for meaningful interaction with people living with dementia.

Ensure all events align with the Dementia Together mission and values.

Collaborates with the Dementia Together team to develop innovative solutions that address the challenges of a growing program.

Completes timely reports for data tracking related to programs, financials, and operations, ensuring information is clearly communicated for staff and board updates and decision-making.

Maintains professional confidentiality by restricting internal discussions to relevant staff or board members who can positively address any issues.

Adheres to the ethical guidelines outlined in the Dementia Together Employee Handbook to foster a culture of trust among volunteers, participants, colleagues, and the community.

Contributes to organizational development and vision within the scope of the position, upholding values that support the long-term sustainability and success of the organization.

Responsibilities of Program Coordinator position:

Assist Enrichment Manager with Enrichment Programs

1. Community Memory Café, Companion Group, Veterans Coffee Chat, Ladies & Men's Luncheons, DT Socials, B-Sharp Arts Engagement Events

  • Preparing, transporting, organizing, setting up, and facilitating 5-7/month
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with participants and venue staff
  • Capturing and entering data
  • Clean up and returning supplies to office storage

2. DT Sports

  • Preparing and transporting necessary supplies
  • Facilitating connection over pool and bowling
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with participants and venue staff
  • Capturing and entering data
  • Clean up and returning supplies to office storage

3. Mobile Memory Café at Senior Care Centers

  • Preparing, transporting, organizing, setting up, and facilitating 5-7/month
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with residents and senior care center staff
  • Capturing and entering data
  • Clean up and returning supplies to office storage

4. Meal Drop

  • Coordinating with development team on restaurant schedule
  • Collecting RSVPs
  • Coordinating with restaurant on meals and time
  • Coordinating delivery routes and volunteers
  • Preparing delivery packets
  • Capturing and entering data

5. Volunteers

  • Coordinating volunteer sign ups
  • Capturing and entering data
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with volunteers

6. Data Coordination

  • Gathering and entering intake forms
  • Tracking participant attendance
  • Tracking volunteer hours
  • Generate monthly reports to track program effectiveness

7. Communication

  • Calling to confirm scheduled events
  • Communicating with volunteers
  • Following up with participants

Additional Duties

Attend regular staff meetings to collaborate with team members-expect at least twice/month

Participate in organizational events to promote community engagement

Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager of Hope, Executive Director, or Board of Directors.

Preferred Education and Experience

SPECAL-informed to practice and model SPECAL strategies with participants (we can offer this training).

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Experience working with individuals with dementia or in senior care settings

Ability to interface and engage diverse volunteer and participant groups.

Solid grasp on dementia best practice to model communication strategies (SPECAL®) promoting meaningful engagement.

Experience with applying SPECAL® methodology

CPR certified

Excellent data entry and computer skills, proficiency in database management, especially MS Office products and Salesforce

Demonstrated ability to collaborate with staff

Strong organizational and time management abilities

Compassionate and patient demeanor with excellent interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry

Empathy and understanding of dementia-related challenges

Flexibility to assist with various program needs

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written

Problem-solving and creative thinking to enhance program offerings

Additional Requirements

Friendliness, enthusiasm, kindness, and compassion.

Possession of a current and valid driver's license, automobile insurance, and reliable transportation.

Successful completion of a background screening according to the policies of Dementia Together.

Working Conditions

This role is a hybrid office position and includes the responsibility to travel to various locations including recreational centers, faith communities, other public buildings, and care communities throughout Northern CO. Some meetings are in-person and some are online.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands and arms to lift and carry.

The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Pay Scale $20.00/hour starting

General working hours Full-time

Hours are generally Monday-Friday 8:00 am-4:30 pm with flexibility needed based on specific programming requirements.

Classification Non-Exempt
