JOB ANNOUNCEMENT Community Youth Center of San Francisco (CYC) provides education, leadership development, behavioral health, intervention, street outreach, and workforce development services to youth and their families in the community of San Francisco. Title: Program Coordinator - (Leadership Program - Racial Justice Cohort) Salary: $28.00 - $31.00 per hour plus benefits Reports to: Senior Program Coordinator Status: Full-time; Non-Exempt The CYC Leadership Program educates and trains high school students in San Francisco to address racial violence, gender-based violence, violence against queer and trans communities, and build multiracial solidarity. Through the program, students develop their leadership, facilitation, and intervention skills, while deepening their knowledge of community history and resilience. The Program Coordinator will work on a team of 3 staff to create and facilitate interactive trainings to three school-based cohorts of youth (ages 14-18), support program participants in developing their sense of community and social justice lenses, and offer outreach and education to the wider community. The Program Coordinator will be an advocate and community liaison to raise public awareness of racial, socio-economic, gender, trans/queer, and disability justice. The Program Coordinator for the Racial Justice Cohort will work with a multiracial group of students to build their sense of community and address topics like racial solidarity, intersectionality, representation, legal justice, resilience, joy, and more.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Recruit and supervise diverse team of multi-racial program participants
- Coordinate training and develop curriculum as necessary
- Work with program coordinators to develop and implement action plan
- Oversee development of multilingual educational presentations and materials
- Outreach to community organizations to set up presentations
- Support the development of youth participants' skills
- Attend community initiatives, collaborative and advocacy meetings related to violence prevention
- Attend appropriate conferences and events along with program participants
- Provide case management to participants who are victims of violence
- Prepare program documentation and reports
- Other duties as assigned by management
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Two years' experience working with diverse populations of youth and young adults
- Bachelor's degree in related fields
- Bilingual/bi-literate in English and Spanish or an Asian language
- Ability to work in partnership with young people and to support their leadership
- Commitment to preventing all forms of violence
- Understanding the impacts of trauma, violence, and healing methods on individuals and communities
- Excellent organizational and presentation skills
- Experience in advocacy or community education
- Knowledge of San Francisco's Asian, Pacific Islander, Black, and Latinx communities and resources for victims of violent crime
- Experience working with queer / questioning / gender non-conforming youth
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends
- Build and maintain relationships with community-based service providers, school districts, and youth agencies
- Commitment to taking regular Covid-19 health tests as required by program health and safety guidelines and/or current health directives.
