The Office of Domestic and Sexual Violence Prevention is to be launched and staffed by a Program Director and a Senior Program Manager, as a City of Boston Initiative housed within the Division of Violence Prevention (DVP), Boston Public Health Commission.
The Program Director and Senior Program Manager will work within DPH's Division of Sexual and Domestic Violence Prevention and Services, engaging with the FJC Leadership Council and the community. This is to be done in alignment with the City of Boston's Violence Prevention Strategic Planning efforts, recognizing the intersectionality of various forms of violence (e.g., gun violence, community violence, family violence, etc.).
Responsibilities
- Provide facilitative leadership that can coordinate deep engagement across Boston's highly diverse communities to develop, sustain, and measure a strategy to end gender-, sexual-, and age-based violence.
- Sustain an active presence in the community and with community partners to collaboratively develop processes and protocols to prevent domestic and sexual violence.
- Assess gaps in service delivery, with close attention to underserved/marginalized communities via community engagement and data analysis; uplift findings; facilitate processes in support of directing resources to providers in service to victims and survivors.
- Develop strategies and systems to work across language groups to ensure all residents are engaged.
- Participate as a member of City of Boston's Sexual Violence /Domestic Violence /Intimate Partner Violence Prevention Management Team.
- Work with partners to pursue Federal and other funding opportunities to collectively increase Boston's capacity to provide.
- Participate as a full member of the Family Justice Center Leadership Council.
- Develop and execute a strategy, strategic plan, and strategic work plan in collaboration with the Division of Violence Prevention, Family Justice Center Leadership Team, the Mayor's Office, and other community-based providers and advocates.
- Collaborate closely with BPHC's Intergovernmental Relations Office on legislative agenda.
- Develop a logic model and evaluation metrics.
- Develop and submit new and continuing grant applications.
- Advocate for onsite FJC partners.
- Document and enhance pathways to services and connections among providers.
- Provide fiscal oversight of the Office budget.
- Recruit and supervise the Senior Program Manager and coordinate activities in support of the development of this new Office.
- Assure all program components align with the Racial Justice and Health Equity goals of the Boston Public Commission and broader community.
- Coordinate initiatives closely with other BPHC programs and services.
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of the role of public health in addressing racism, the social determinants of health, and inequities in health outcomes as well as strategies to advance racial justice and health equity.
- Commitment to health equity and racial/social justice issues.
- Professional and lived experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field with 7 years of experience, master level degree in relevant field with 5 years or doctoral degree w/ 3 years of program management experience in domestic and sexual violence intervention and prevention.
- Multilingual capacity is highly valued.
- Demonstrated skills in project management, grants management and program evaluation.
- Excellent organizational, writing, communication, and presentation skills.
- Strong knowledge of data systems and program data reporting.
- Knowledge of program budgeting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred or Plus
- Knowledge of Boston and the root causes of violence.
